Problem with Sims 3 base game launch.[SOLVED] Empty Problem with Sims 3 base game launch.[SOLVED]

Post by Guest Wed 04 Apr 2012, 08:12

I'm sorry if this is too detailed, I just wanted to express the entire steps I took to get to this point in case I messed up somewhere. I'm a newfag when it comes to mounting images and downloading torrents for anything other than music or movies, so apologies.

I installed the game exactly to the T (save for wanting a desktop icon) with the orders in the instructional (The Sims 3 - Base Game installation video by *Games4theworld* (New one)) youtube vid and everything went well until I was moving the Crack file into the /bin folder.
No pop up occurred, and so it did not replace the file that it was supposed to. I've assumed that the one named Sims3Launcher is the one that's supposed to have been deleted.

Anyways, everything went fine, but when I attempted to launch Sims once it had been installed (I opted out of doing any extensions for sake of not messing up >.> ended up doing that anyways), this happened:
https://2img.net/h/i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn22/Morbidsnowbeast/Untitleddbfhgj-1.jpg

Figuring the warning was just because it was a cracked version, I ignored it and pressed the arrow to begin the game anyways. The entire screen closes, and after a moment, this comes up:
https://2img.net/h/i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn22/Morbidsnowbeast/Untitleddbfhgj-2.jpg

I tried putting in the same registration code I got from the keygen when installing, but it still says it's wrong. The same message over and over, I've tried using codes from this forum, trying the keygen a few more times and from google searches, no matter what it's wrong and the exact same window will pop back up. When I choose don't continue, by the way, this comes up:
https://2img.net/h/i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn22/Morbidsnowbeast/Untitleddbfhgj-3.jpg

I've tried using the launcher from the icon that Sims created on my desktop, and from the Start Menu, and from both of these aforementioned icons, the crack one goes directly to the serial key window, while the one I've assumed was supposed to be replaced goes through the first window before leading me back to the serial window:
https://2img.net/h/i300.photobucket.com/albums/nn22/Morbidsnowbeast/Untitleddbfhgj.jpg

I assumed that ^ file (Sims3Launcher) was the one that was supposed to be replaced, and have moved it to another folder rather than deleting after seeing my problem occur and trying to see if that made any difference. Didn't.

EDIT: Oh and I've run it as administrator and this still happens.

Again, I'm sorry if I was too detailed with the pictures and all but I'm really terrible with this aspect of computers so I didn't know where my mistake could have been. Thanks for whatever advice you can give, and please speak to me like it's installing this game for dummies! I'm really bad with lingo and the like. Thank you guys for getting me to this step, at least haha!

I know I'm not supposed to post links for the first 7 days of joining but these are images, and if you opt to not open them on your own I've tried to explain it as well as I can without them. I'm sorry if that really offends y'all I just really wanted to be as detailed as possible.

Mod edit: Links fixed.

Hello,

Actually it's good that you've tried to explain it in so much detail that helps us solve your problem so thank you for that.
The crack, in this case, only replaces the TS3.exe and it looks like it failed to do that, judging from your first picture.
So if you just want to play the base game, try to copy the crack again from the crack folder in the file you downloaded.

You should know that this very first version of the base game still has quite a few bugs, and if you ever wanted to update to the latest version, you'll need at least one of the following expansions to make the fix and crack work: Showtime, Master Suite Stuff, Pets, Town Life Stuff or Generations.

Your second picture is normal when you're using just the base game.

That the game asks for a registration code is because I suspect the crack didn't go well. A registration code is unique and there's no other way to get it than buying the game, any serial key you can find or generate will give you the same results that it fails to register. That's ok, you don't need to register the game to play.

Please try to copy the crack again and let us know the result.

Problem with Sims 3 base game launch.[SOLVED] Empty Re: Problem with Sims 3 base game launch.[SOLVED]

Well I had originally completely moved the crack file into the other folder instead of copying, so after moving it back I tried copying it into /bin to see if that made a difference, and nothing has changed.

For some reason it isn't replacing the file. I was messing with some of my music files earlier and happened to have a similar situation (moving between folders) and the popup had happened for that, but it's not happening for this particular file.

Should I try re-extracting the files and trying another copy of the crack or would that mess things up?

The only other option I can think of would be maybe installing one of the expansions and then doing the fix, maybe that would solve it? I'm just worried after doing all that it may still not work.

Hello,

That will probably help, you only need one of the following expansions: Showtime, Master Suite Stuff, Pets, Town Life Stuff, Generations.
If you run into problems, let us know.

You can also try to reextract the files and attempt to copy the crack again. You are logged on to your pc as administrator?
Also make sure you close the launcher before copying the crack.

Okay, I'm currently downloading Pets, and yes I'm administrator.

I can't seem to find the link to the guide video for installing the expansions, would you mind linking me?

So from what I understand, I should extract the pets files, install those, then do the fix, then do the crack... Am I going to be using the same crack file I've been working with after all of that?

Thank you so much, by the way. I'm learning how this whole crazy process works. Not to mention it seems Sims is quite the handful. I had installed Age of Empires a few months back and it didn't seem quite so complicated!

Hello,

True, The Sims is quite a handful.
There's no video for the expansions, but the process isn't too complicated. Extract the file you download with winRAR, and from those files, simply doubleclick the setup.exe.
After installing, use this manual patch to patch your game to the latest version, then apply the crack from the fix.
Don't use the crack from the Pets file, it's outdated.
Let us know if you need more help.

Just to let you know, installing Pets and finishing it up the way you suggested did seem to work in case you come across this problem again; I haven't encountered any sort of crashes as of yet.
