Sims 3 Installation onto thumb drive (rather than on computer) problems

I would like to install my sims 3 and expansions onto a hard drive, however i run into some issues...

after unpackaging the sims 3, i go to instal the game... then i choose the save file on my hard drive so it doesn't install on my laptop but it does anyway... my laptop doesn't have enough space. I'm working on this for like 3 weeks with no help , i looked online and couldn't find what exaclty i am looking for. jesus, it took 3 days and 7 hours to download the game and all expansions and some store items. I just want to play the game..... Now! its the suspense that kills me, how do i get it to work! Sims 3 Installation onto thumb drive (rather than on computer) problems 611149516

THANK YOU! for this website and everything. I hope you will have time to get to my problem, i dont know computers as well as most people but i am consistant and i will pretty much do anything if i could get this thing to work...

Hello,

During setup, you're choosing the "custom" install, then put your external drive as the install location?
I've not tried this myself, even though my sims is not on C:\ but on my D:\ partition, you'd expect it's much the same though.

yes i choose cutom install. I also had first downloaded the sims 3 and expansions ect, onto my laptop with uttorent and then later clicked and dragged it to my thumb drive. I loooked at it and everything is there, but yes i did custom install and put that as my location.

i also have another problem... this computer was not purchased by me, i
prefer to tell you how i got this in a private message but i did not
steal it or anything. but something is wrong with it. It constantly says
it is too full and then it says it has a lot of space. at the moment it
is in the red and says 5.43 GB left ... i don't know if it is safe to
delete everything from my laptop and start anew, my step dad told me he
ghosted it already which basically strips the computer and destroys
anything on it so it is fresh and clean again. but you can only do this a
few times or it will destroy the computer itself..

there are some files on here that shouldn't be but are impossible to find. once again, i would rather share that privately

Hello,

Admin would be more likely to be able to provide assistance with that I think. If you want to PM him about it, that's ok.
He may also be able to tell you more about why this isn't working. Perhaps there are more issues with this laptop that prevent you from installing The Sims on the thumb drive.
