The Sims 3 Not Responding-ish?

Hello all!

I've ran into a sticky ending here on The Sims 3. I have managed to install everything fine, it's all cracked etc. and everything seems to be dandy until the personality parts of Creating A Sim. (I have all EPs except the Katy Perry one)

The blue box with all of the traits goes black, and then I am unable to click anything to select. I start task manager and flick to and from programs and TM says that Sims isnt responding. When it does respond, all I get it a mirror where my sim is meant to be standing and nothing else. I haven't been able to get any further

Now I have done all of the updates etc and it's still giving me grief. Can anybody hint to me or any kind of clue what is going on here? My system specs are well above the recommended requirements so I don't know why my PC is having a hissy fit and not playing the game..?

No I haven't, just the expansion packs

Please open the game's launcher and hover your mouse over the base game icon in the lower-left corner of the launcher.
What version does it show? It starts with 1.xx.xx

Just tried that and still happens, it runs fine for 10 minutes, but after 10 mins and i click personalities, it freezes up and doesn't respond

Hey all!

Right, Im so confused now, I just put all of the sims
onto another computer (my gaming pc and not my laptop) and it all works,
without no freezing!

So Im now thinking that it's an
incompatability on my laptop.. But my previous laptop ran it fine (intel
i3-380m) and now I have an intel i5-2410 (HD3000 graphics), which is
alot better than the i3 graphics. Has anyone got a place to visit where I
can check the specs of my laptop against compatability?

already says my computer passes recommended requirements, but I dont
know if its an incompatable chipset or what, as Ive seen it run perfect
on HD3000 before... :/

Yeah, everything was a pass. It's working on my desktop, just not my laptop, and now i'm wondering if ive missed something out without realising ha :/

Then I'm starting to think it's ATI driver-related. I can remember that a lot of people were having graphical issues with The Sims 3, since they updated to the latest version of the ATI driver.
This might be related. You could try to downgrade the driver.
