Confused trying to install the base game on a Mac

Hi I've been reading around this site for the last few days, My questions probably really simple but I can't seem to find the answer! I've downloaded the base game, 2 of the expansion packs and they ultimate fix for mac. However I don't see how I can install the base game without providing a serial. In the pack for the base game the serial file is an .exe which I am unable to open on my mac. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Where did you get the base game from?
Please note that the Games4theworld version of the base game is not compatible with Mac, I'm afraid.

I did originally get the base from games4theworld. I've managed to find a serial number to be able to download the game and then followed the instructions according to the ultimate fix with regards to cracking the game. The expansion pack I have downloaded (also from games4theworld) is pets. I also patched the base game up to current levels. When I tried to apply the crack files to the pets expansion pack, the original versions of the file where not there to be replaced?! When I open the game it asks for my serial again and then comes up with an error saying exception raised: unhanded exception 0x80000004 at address 0x00000000 do you wish to debug it?

Any suggestions?

First of all, our version of the base game does not work with Mac.
Also, please remove the files you copied to the Pets folder. There should NOT be copied any files to the Pets folder.
Read the Fix' included "# Installation Guide.pdf" VERY carefully on where exactly to put which files.

Okay thanks, I've removed everything and will try starting again. If I get a copy of the base game from elsewhere, can i find a patch on your website to get it up to date? Also is your pets expansion pack compatible with mac? I did originally purchase the pets expansion pack but got errors about it being incompatible with the version of the base game I had, I assume because it was a pirated and out of date copy.

All our expansions should work fine on a Mac. If you own a legal version of the Pets game, I recommend using that one.

I ended up returning it and getting a refund because at the time I couldn't find a way to update the base game. Any suggestions of where to look for a mac base game?
