Reinstalling after updating to 1.42?
Hello everyone,
I've just downloaded the manual update 1.42 for The sims 3 (Mac). I don't know what I'm doing wrong but when I finish updating the game, it says that "some of the files have been modified and I need to reinstall the game". I took the Electronic Arts folder from the documents and put it in the desktop while I update it.
What do I do? If I reinstall the game, I have to reinstall all the expansions, right?
Is anyone else having the same problem?
Thanks in advance for your answers.

Re: Reinstalling after updating to 1.42?
do you have mods/cc? if so, you need to remove them before updating.
edit: admin said it was not recommended for use as it was causing problems. I have had one too many issues with my game so I am patiently waiting until admin says its safe to use

Did you download the Latest Ultimate Fix and apply that?
Your error is normally because of mods/cc, but you clearly got those out, so other main is Incorrect Game Patch Version/Ultimate Fix version.

Hey, mb292620.
Sorry for taking so long in answering and thank you for doing it so quickly
I don't know what mods or cc are but if you are referring to the Electronic Arts folder with all the contents downloaded (worlds, house and that stuff), yes, I put that folder in my desktop.
Anyway, I'm going to wait as you said.
//EDIT
Hello, t2sink. Thanks to you too for answering
I downloaded the update for 1.42 and the crack, nothing else. I don't really know what to do after I update.
The
thing is that when it apparently finishes updating (the process stops
at "data/shared/packages/deltabuild2.package", not sure what that means)
it gives two options "quit"/"view log". If I click on quit, nothing
happens and the game doesn't update.
If I click on view log, it opens a text file and there are two lines in red which say:
-
Examining file : /Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/program
files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Game/Bin/TS3W.exe -> SHA1 Error
-
Examining file : /Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/program
files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Game/Bin/TSLHost.dll -> SHA1 Error
I
thought it was because of the cracks but I took them out of the folder
and the problem is still there. And seriously, I don't know what else to
do so that I can get the update and swim in the ocean

Re: Reinstalling after updating to 1.42?
I would suggest reinstalling...I know it sucks but it seems to be the only way. Reinstall the base and patch it to 1.42 manually then apply the fix. Try to play. If you can make a family, quit and continue adding your expansions, patching then applying the crack every couple of expansions (this is what I do so I don't get those pesky messages that specific expansions aren't fully updated). When you finish patch and apply the crack a final time and see where you go from there. This happened to me when I updated to 1.38. That's all I can give you since I'm still not updated to 1.42. I've seen that people have had problems with it so I'm scared to patch. No swimming for me yet.
Good luck though! let me know how it goes!

Re: Reinstalling after updating to 1.42?
Yes, I think I'm gonna have to do that. Thanks again.
Although I don't really know where to put the crack on. I've been playing without them. I mean, I have the crack on the Sims 3 base folder and my last expansion installed is Diesel Stuff, so I mount the mini-image from this one.
I guess I need to have this terms clear before doing anything.
And yes, I'll let you know how it goes. Thank you very much for your help.

Re: Reinstalling after updating to 1.42?
All you need are the 2 files from the #crack folder, copy and paste (not drag) them into applications>the sims 3>the sims 3 icon (right click show package contents)>contents>resources>transgaming>c drive>program files>electronic arts>the sims 3>game>bin. Make sure you keep those files in a folder on your desktop, delete everything else that came with them (all the expansion folders). Do the same thing every time you patch/update/add an expansion (even if its an older expansion). Replace with new fixes as they come out. Always from the #crack folder.
Hope this helps! (:
