World Adventures Won't Install :-?

Ok so I read the instructions on how to install the Sims 3 correctly and I did not apply any cracks or patches to the base game when installed. When it came to downloading WA, it told me that the Sims 3 needed to be updated so I clicked yes to update and next it said error with Sims 3 update setup cannot continue....how can I fix this? I been up all night trying to figure this out...

Do I apply this patch to World Adventures only?

I plan on installing all the expansion/stuff packs, I was just installing WA after the base game

The patch updates your base game and expansions automatically. It's not a patch for one specific expansion.
Just try this first, if it works, I'll tell you what to do if you want to install more expansions later.

Now, if you want to install any more expansions, just install them. If it worked, don't fix what isn't broken. If it didn't work, just re-do step 3 to 5: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly
