Downloading Custom Content Empty Downloading Custom Content

Post by Guest Mon 25 Jun 2012, 06:51

I don't know if this is the right place to post this but...

I'm having issues installing custom content. I've transferred everything into the 'downloads' folder as usual and used the launcher to install everything by selecting 'Select Everything' because I have a ton of them and it would take days to do them one by one. My issue is that only some of them actually stay installed.

When it's all finished and I click OK it shows that all of the content is installed properly in the 'Downloads' list but when I start the game and get into my town it prompts me that some content could not be displayed and has been replaced. So when I go back to the launcher to check my downloads/installs everything is no longer installed...

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? Help

Thanks in advance~

This method didn't work. The only custom content that stayed installed were the houses as usual. Any other ideas? This started happening last night after I re-installed the game. Before I re-installed the custom content worked just fine. I did notice last night that if I do them one at a time via the launcher they stay installed, so why would doing them all at once that uninstall themselves? I have to find a fix because I have 562 custom contents so doing them one by one is out of the question.

Hello,

How about an alternative method?

I've now tried the CCmagic and Merlin - neither of which worked out. CCmagic would organize everything and do it's thing but when I start the game it still tells me that some content can not be displayed and was replaced. Merlin would tell me that it installed the content but same thing as usual with the content missing once I actually get into the game.

This is getting really annoying... we have to be missing something. Why would it just randomly stop working after a clean re-install?

*EDIT*

Now my game won't even run right since I used Mirlin and/or CCmagic. Guess I'm un-installing/re-installing once again....

Hello,

How about converting them to packages, and later combining the packages?
It's very time consuming, but it'll definitely work.

EDIT: Try removing the "The Sims 3" folder from (My) Documents\Electronic Arts first.

How do you convert them into packages and what do you mean to remove "The Sims 3" folder? Like, completely delete it?

Hello,

Don't delete it, your saves are in there. Just drag&drop it to your desktop. The "ccmagic" folder as well.

Making packages is described in the last paragraph of the post you got ccmagic from.

I tried to make them into packages but it wouldn't because it didn't recognize the file I guess? All of my downloads file types are "The Sims 3 Custom Content" instead of "Sims3 Package" which is what that s3pe program works with because it wouldn't work with mine at all.

So when I tried to follow the instructions to package the sims3packs nothing would show up because I guess they're not sims3pack files.
