Problems using the exchange? Empty Problems using the exchange?

Post by ☠ ~ Aɳɳ ~ ☠ Fri 27 Jul 2012, 08:49

Hello,

Lately there seems to be a problem with sims3packs from the exchange, they won't install and attempting to do so results in the following message:

Installation failed: Please make sure your game has the latest Software Updates and try again.

Those of us who do have a registration code and could previously use the exchange without the backdoor are seeing a lot of this:

I'd like to know how many people are experiencing this problem. So please fill out the poll, and reply with your vote and whether or not you have at least 1 registered game.

And yes I am indeed experiencing this problem with 1 registered title.

I have 4 registered titles (the base game + the first 3 packs) and I have this issue when logged in to the site. I was told you had to have the required (for that item) expansions registered to be able to download. (Maybe the same as the uploader??) Seems like a crock to me. Thank goodness for the backdoor method of downloading, or I'd get nothing at all.

I too get this issue on some of my Exchange downloads.
I think this will be a new re-occurring problem! Very good idea

I have 6 registered games and see the same message, however I've found that using the Save File link allows me to download the item and install it, usually with no problems.

I've also noticed that this shows up a lot with files that are several years old so it may be a glitch on EA's end trying to update the files to work with recent patch levels. As we all know from experience, EA isn't very good at fixing stuff so why should older exchange items be any different. Wink

The weird thing is, that the Sim I uploaded a few months ago also gives me that message. And nothing about my game has changed since then, apart from patch level. I actually uploaded that sim to use the face as an avatar for Simport etc. And she's my testsim Smile.

I uploaded a sim to use as my avatar today too, and got the exact same message. I feel that it's a way of EA telling us we are using stuff from expansions we don't own, since it listed several expansios "required" to install my sim, he he he...

Their system is a bit crazy. Sometimes it shows my registered games (Base + Seasons), sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I can't even upload a simple memory because I get an error telling I need to register. Other times it works fine...

I contacted EA and they don't have any idea of what happens, since they hire unexperienced people, probably with very low wages, that try to copy and paste ready made answers like most current call centers...

Hello,

I read that people who don't even have pirated games have the same problem from time to time.
So it seems like a classic EA mess Laughing

Yes, it is! They don't even know how to fix it, then they try to give you another serial... Then they revoke it, then they give you another... And the problem persists... I am quite angry, because I don't need to pay for it, I got the software because I was expecting to use the on line features, only because of that. Even playing only with base game plus seasons only I had issues, because they have no clue on how to manage it.

My base game is registered, EPs & SPs are not(I have all of them thanks to you guys<3). I also have this issue... I wonder why?
Luckily I haven't been too keen on the exchange since it plagued my game with Rose's horsebody, lol

I was about to ask about this but since the topic is already made I hope it's ok I ask in this one. Being that most of us downloaded our game and EP with torrents, is there any way possible to get registered on the Sims 3 site to download from them? There is a house I want but I don't have a code to register my game so I can get it.

I got it fixed using the CC Magic, but it sure is a damn hassle. And now my game crashes 10-60 minutes into gameplay so I have to try and fix that. I have always had problems with these downloads, and I have been re-downloading this game on several different computers over the years. You'd think I would've learned by now... Smile
