Generation/Pets/Late Night Installation Problems Empty Generation/Pets/Late Night Installation Problems

Hi, I assure you I have extracted the files from winrar. The problem is when I try to install any of these expansions. At the screen where It says "Welcome to the Install Shield Wizard..." A pop up comes up and says "Unhandled Exception Error Number 0x80040707 Description: DLL function call crashed: ISRT._CtrlSetMELRichText"2nd pop up: " Same error number Description::ISRT._ReleaseObjectContext" 3rd pop up" Same error number Description:ISRT._ListDestroy" What does this mean? This happens with all of them. I hope this is a fixable problem

Each of those are system DLL errors that are pretty easy to fix. You can go HERE and read the article on how to resolve the problem.

So what would the launching the installation file be called in the generations file?

//EDIT

Never Mind About The last Question. Could the problem be because my base game is a more recent version of this expansion?

Sims3EP04Setup.exe

No it should allow you to continue installation even though your are patched higher than Generations.

Can you post an image of what your seeing when you try to install the EP?

You might have a corrupted file. Try re-downloading the rar file and using WinRAR to unpack it.

You seem to have a lot of programs running while trying to install. Try shutting down Word, Opera, Origin and the program that looks like Sticky Notes.

Restart and then try installing Generations again.

Hello,

Did you extract the installation files using WinRAR? And no other program?

OK, so I deleted the files then downloaded them again, the I extracted the files with WinRAR only. I turned off all other programs and then I tried installing. But the same stinkin' error happened. Could the problem be there are 2 WinRAR archive files still in the file? https://i.servimg.com/u/f32/17/72/27/65/untitl10.png

No those are data cabinets that the installer uses to extract the files needed for the install. Do Not unpack those two files.

Which version of Windows are you running? XP? Vista? 7?

Here are a few steps from MS you can try. Step 1 usually fixes the problem but it is MS Windows so Rolling Eyes

There might be several causes for this issue. Below are some of the methods that
you can try to resolve your issue.

Method 1:

Clear the temporary Windows files.

Windows stores a number of temporary files that sometimes
conflict with certain programs. These temporary files are normally
created to store information and free memory for other purposes, or to
act as a safety net to prevent data loss when a program
performs certain functions. These temporary files, however, can
conflict with installation programs and make them detect that a program
is already installed, or that a patch is installed when the patch has
not been applied properly. It can even affect the
some programs as they try to start or run. It becomes
necessary to periodically delete these remnant files to prevent
conflicts, and free up space. This process is especially useful before
installing a game or patch.

To delete your Windows temporary files on Windows 7:

1. Click on Start

2. Type %temp% in the search box, and then hit the Enter key.

3. Click on one of the files in the folder that just opened, and press Ctrl + A to select all of the files in this folder.

4. Press the Delete key on your keyboard.

5. When prompted if you are sure, choose Yes.

When you've finished emptying your Temp folders, be sure to empty your Recycle Bin:

1. Locate the Recycle Bin icon on your Desktop.

2. Right-click on the Recycle Bin and choose Empty Recycle Bin.

This may take a few minutes if there are many files.

Method 2:

Copy the contents of the game on to a folder on your hard drive
and then try to install the game. If your CD/DVD is not responding
properly while installation you might face this issue.

Method 3:
Run the setup file with administrator privileges.

To run an application one time with a full administrator access token

1. Locate the Setup file.

2. Right-click it, and then click Run as administrator.

3. When the UAC message is displayed, do one of the following:

If you are logged on as a standard user,
or if UAC is configured to always require credentials, enter the
appropriate administrative credentials, and then click OK.

If you are logged on as an administrator and UAC is not
configured to always require credentials, click yes to start the
application.

How do I run an application once with a full administrator access token?

Let us know which one, if any, works for you.
