The Sims 3 Riverview sims3pack won't install since Diesel Stuff. [SOLVED]

Hello everyone. I have been playing with the sims 3 downloaded from your website. My computer is powerful enough to take all the packs, so I played with everything installed without any problems at all. But when I installed Diesel Stuff Pack, something's wrong with the Riverview sims3pack. I install all the cutom contents from your website by using the game laucher, and then Riverview won't install... It says : ''installation failed, make sure you updated your game to its latest patch''... and my game is at his 1.36 patch, so I find it quite ridiculous. Why would it say that kind of thing if I'm already at a higher patch than when Riverview came out?

All right then. I'll redownload it and try again. I'll tell you if it does work. I've got to reinstall the whole game and expansions however: I've formatted my hard drive for my own business last night. I will inform you by canadian sunset because right now i'm getting ready for work.

Well, now there's another issue altogether...
I've reinstalled sims 3, but I forgot the Pets Expansion Pack, so I uninstalled everything and tried again not to forget any SP or EP. The base game installed quite good, but any other expansion or stuff pack, when it asks me to update it to install, there's a error message saying : ''there's been a problem with the updating. The installation can't continue'', then the installshield wizard closes and nothing elses happens. Now what? Do you think I should manually delete the Sims 3 with the regedit option? Cause I think the problem is in the registry... If that's the case, then i'll need to know which registry key I should remove. Frustrating that I just can't test Riverview tonight... I will need to ask for your help once again. Thanks in advance.

Instead of trying to manually find the reg key(s) that need to be cleaned, try Revo Uninstaller. It's free and works great at making sure that everything from a program is uninstalled. You can find it HERE.

OK, I downloaded it, but it doesn't uninstall Sims 3 at all: it's already uninstalled. The base game installs fine, but refuses to play. As for installing the expansions, the updater refuses to work. I will try my ccleaner. If it works, i'll tell you if it does. If it doesn't, i'll try doing a system recovery. If you have better suggestions, tell me. Thanks in advance.

System recovery took forever, but it said that nothing has changed on the computer, so it failed. Ccleaner next...

Are you using the game launcher to update or using the manual update?

If your using the launcher to update the game, your best bet is to manually update the game. You can find the download link and instructions on how to apply the update HERE.

Also, make sure you restart after uninstalling any program as it gives the system time to flush the memory and (if windows cooperates, which it seldom does) clear the entries from the registry. CCleaner should also help in finding the orphaned registry entries.

Well, did you know that when you're trying to install a Sims 3 expansion pack, the installation wizard makes an automatic update? That's what i'm talking about. I'm not using the launcher, nor the manual update, I already know what they're for. I've been using Games4theworld the sims 3 since Katy Perry sweet treats and I never had any problems. It started with Riverview, then the update.... Oh well... I'll try to uninstall everything, then rebbot my computer. This isn't any ordinary computer either: it cost me above 3000 $, it has everything maxed out as of december 2010, including video memory, ram, and cores.

I just found a way around to update sims 3. When it wouldn't update, it was when I was putting World Adventures Pack, even if I changed the SKU version in the Registry to 2. I tried updating with Diesel Stuff, and curiously, it worked. Before, it never did that. Do you guys have any idea why would it have done summat like that? I would like to know it. Thanks in advance. I'm currently installing Diesel Stuff. If there's another problem hereafter, i'll post it.

How much the PC costs usually (99% of the time anyway) has nothing to do with install problems. When you are installing the expansions and/or stuff packs, it is using the launcher's executable to update the game, hence the reason EA makes manual updates available for those times when the game itself fails to update through the launcher/installer.

As for time using "fixes" for games, applications, etc... I have been installing fixed programs for over 20 years and have worked with Micr*s*ft software for over 30 years. I also hold 2 Masters degrees in Systems and Network Engineering. So please don't try to strut and brag when asking for help. You might just find that someone else's $500 system will run circles around the now obsolete $3000 system you have.

I've installed everything, and every single custom content, and no problem came at all, not even when i started playing. So thanks, Lady Eldi for the Riverview sims3pack, it worked fine, and thank you dracos66 for your help. Sorry again for my rudeness, but I promise, it wasn't my intention to draw anger at me. I am autist, so sometimes I say things that some people can find shocking, but my handicap won't let me know it. It's my social deficency... I beg your forgiveness.
I hope everything will work fine for my sims 3 now. My sons will be happy to know it too, they waited all day to play, but there was problems, so they couldn't touch my computer. My husband will also be glad to continue his online work. Thanks, and over next time, guys!

As they say in my mother's native tongue c'est bon, its OK. I wasn't angry when I responded, just mildly annoyed at the tone of your response. When the written word is all you see its sometimes hard to convey the emotions and meaning the writer is trying to get across. I always have to think of how I am going to write something in a way that wont come across as mean, arrogant, etc. and yet still get my point across.
