Butler causes lag? [SOLVED]
I've looked up the problem and couldn't really find anything on it, but.. as soon as I hired a butler my game started lagging REALLY badly. I reset the save and restarted the game and (Without the butler) it was fine, but when I decided to hire a butler again it... started lagging again! I decided to fire the butler and hire a new one and it was actually ok for 30 minutes, but then.. started lagging again. this lag doesn't seem to happen unless I have a butler -- Now that I think about it, one of the saves I was playing before with a butler started getting really, REALLY laggy and finally it was just unplayable. . .
I have no mods - all I have for The Sims 3 is the official downloads from Games4theworld.
Is there any fix to this?
edit: When I mean lag, it's like, all of the sims/pets/etc freeze what they're doing, "Needs" bars stop going up and down, etc, but shadows will move and the green thing above selected Sims heads will still rotate..
edit2: Windows 7 home premium 64 bit
Processor: Intel(R) CorE(TM) i5 CPU 650 @ 3.2GHz (4 CPUs),~3.2GHz
8192MB RAM
DirectX Versoin: DirectX 11
ATI Radeon HD 5450 display device, with updated drivers

Try turning down the graphics settings through the Options panel and also turning off Memory notifications (unless you really want them)

OK, your system should be able to handle whatever the sims can throw at it according to those specs. Lets try this.
How many processes do you have running in the background (Task Manager - Processes tab) while the game is running? If its over 80 then that can cause a lot of problems with games, try shutting down unneeded processes before running the game. Note: If your unsure whether a process is needed or not you can Google the name and the result will tell you if it is vital or not.
Do the same for any programs running in the background.

Re: Butler causes lag? [SOLVED]
wow, thanks for suggesting that, i would have never guessed. i had almost 90 processes running, what with 4 chatting programs and plugins for each, plus 2 browsers, flash player, java, etc.. since i've turned most of the unnecessary stuff off it has quit lagging completely. i still wonder why it started happening when I got a butler though o.0

The butler wears almost all black and black is one of the memory intensive colors to render in 3D because of the white and red needed to make it shiny and give it depth. The same happens with fire effects, sun light, etc.

I never would have guessed this. Good to know.
Anyway, don't hesitate to post if you have questions or problems again.

Thanks for the information indeed!
If it's to much work to close all the processes, you can also use GameBooster, as mentioned in step 6: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t4692-game-lag-possible-fixes
Happy simming!
