Checklist "Installing a new Expansionpack or patch"

Hello all!
Here's your checklist for installing a new expansionpack.
-Back up your save games, or better yet, the entire The Sims 3 folder in My Documents. This is done as follows:
1. Go to: (My) Documents\Electronic Arts\
2. Backup (Read: copy to an other folder) the folder called "The Sims 3".
3. Now completely remove the "The Sims 3" folder from: (My) Documents\Electronic Arts\
That way, you can safeguard your save games from anything that might go wrong during the installation process, and it prevents any mods causing issues.
-Mods. These can cause issues when they're not compatible with the expansion or the latest patch level. You'll have to get new versions of the mods, making sure they're compatible. Custom content will not cause problems usually, but you never know. Here are the links to some of the more popular sites that provide various game mods for The Sims 3:

-The fix. Have a look here to see if Admin has updated the fix yet, and get the new version of the fix when available.
-The patch. You can choose to let the installer patch your game, but it doesn't hurt to patch manually before starting the installation to avoid the invalid file error.
Now you're ready to start installing your new expansionpack, so just sit back and cross your fingers!

Hey Lady! Thank you for this very useful thread. So I am about to install Supernatural and before doing it, I wanna make sure I got it all right:
First, I move the Sims 3 folder in my documents to another place.
Then, I update manually the game.
Then I install the supernatural.
Then I use the fix.
Then I put back my Sims 3 folder in my documents... Is that the right proccess?
