Sims 3 updating and expansion packs!

To start off I have a question about updating to patch 1.38.151, can you have everything not installed yet and then install sims 3 and update it with the launcher or will that cause problems when I install the pirated expansion packs? also i have a sims 3 disc that i bought and i have downloaded the sims 3 razor1911 final maxspeed, which one would be better for base game and cause least problems? i have unistalled and reinstalled all these base games and expansion packs trying to understand it. i have copy and replaced the TS3W application file and the TSLHost dll file to the program files(x86)/electronic arts/the sims 3/game/bin . i just need clear directions on what to do. also when install sims 3 it does not ask if i want to download EA manager, in some videos ive seen it says to unclick that so im not sure about that either. Very confused! please help :S

Yes, you can, you only have to update the base game anyway.
