Confused about this process

Hi there, sorry for the ambiguous title, I didn't know what else to put.
Anyway, I am confused. I want to install more expansion packs for the Sims 3, although when I try I almost always get some type of error. Such as "The game versions don't match" or something like that. I have read all your guides and your .txt files that come with the downloads and I am still greatly confused. I can install the game and run it perfectly fine, with almost always no errors. But when I try to install an expansion pack (say LateNight, one I have wanted for a long time) I cannot. It seems like there a crazy amount of steps that involve uninstalling things, and moving files all over the place. At this point I have uninstalled my base game, and my other packs hoping for a fresh start. This may be different for other expansions but at this point I would be very happy with just Late Night and the base.. Is there a simple, easy way to get these two installed, there are way too many extra steps in the Late Night folder that I feel I don't need to follow (that have to do with the other packs).
TLDR;
I would like to know a very simple way, to install the Sims 3 and the Sims 3 Late Night, without any errors at all.

Hello,
You will find your answer right here, but you'll see that with that method, you won't be able to install just Late Night.
If you really don't want any other packs, the only solution is not to exceed Late Night's patch level and use its crack. But that really takes "simple" out of it
