Are your graphics cards fully updated? You can update them at the Nvidia website.

Also, unsupported mods and cc can cause crashes/conflicts - do you have any installed?

You can try lowering the graphics settings in game and then restarting as well.

When you install Sims WA and Late Night, did you have them before, then unistalled? And then decided to have them again?
If so, do you clean the Registry by using the Regedit?
That could be the problem.

There should be a guide in here for it.
Unfortunately I can't link yet.

Hello,

No I don't think so, if it's a registry problem, you'll get a service initialization error, or the "there was an error during start up ...", you won't be ably to play at all if that's it.
Did you add all the games and expansions' exe's to the DEP?

If nothing is fixing your game from crashing, you could download the Saver mod from NRAAS - it's compatible with everything, and makes you save your game at user-set intervals. That way when it crashes you've saved recently.

Hello,

Still, a notebook is no game pc. It's much more likely to overheat and having unneeded processes in the background turned off can help prevent that.

If a part of a computer overheats it normally shuts down the entire thing, doesn't it? So if it just crashes to windows.

Have you checked out what Cerza31 posted? https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-freezes-to-desktop-fix-updated-on-10-01-2012

Let us know the results.

Edit: >> I skipped over the OP post of adding the stuff to DEP, so probably. So play in Window mode, do you still have the twenty minutes to a hour of playing?

Edit: Yeah, remove background task, the ones in the start bar icon area is a good place to start. So turn off Instant Messengers, Skype, MSN Live, yahoo, aim, etc, and programs that always boot up on start that aren't needed to do run The Sims 3. Just leave the several like your graphic card program, and Anti-Virus.

Hello,

Windowed mode, that means the game starts in a window in stead of full screen. You can do that by unchecking "fullscreen" in the in game options menu.
You can indeed crash to desktop when part of the computer overheats. It depends on which part. If it is the graphicscard/chip for example, it's much more likely to crash to desktop than to shut down entirely.
