1.42 Update, should I update?

Hi, I'm a newbie here. I have searched all topics related to my problem but none even some topics are locked, and I still have no idea whether I should update 1.38 to 1.42. I've installed The Sims 3 and the expansions (the last exp is Katy Perry Sweet Treats). I used the ultimate fix, update 1.38 for the first time I installed The Sims 3 I downloaded from here and it runs smooth even without problems in-game. Here is my main question, if I update the game to 1.42 am I still able to play my previous save game or will I re-install and start over the base game and all the expansions (in case something wrong happens like "no disc found" or "modified file")? or if I use the ultimate fix (ult fix 1.42) and just replacing the crack without re-installing the base game and all the expansions would it work? I'm clueless about this one. Sorry if I look like confused noob. Thanks. :newfag:

You can safely update, and all you need to do is the following.

1. Download Manual Patch for 1.42
2. Run Manual Patch.
3. Download Ultimate Fix for 1.42
4. Follow each step on how to Install Ultimate Fix.
5. Play the game

You can play the previous saves without issues.

yeah thanks, but where do I the manual patch 1.42 link here? I've searched that. I only found the ultimate fix for 1.42, but I'm not that thorough. Can you please send me the link?

haha. yeah I actually didn't notice what's written on Ultimate Fix Installation Guide. I thought that's only for Installation game not including the update, until I asked such obviously answered-question and got some responses. Thanks for you guys. I'm trying to update it now, the problem now is just bloody slow connection when downloading the update.

I think I've hit send button. anyway, I've succeed updating. And the game runs smooth, thanks dudes who already helped me out with this. But too bad one of my save game sometimes stuck like lagging, after all others just fine.

hiya, Lady Eldi, thanks for the solutions but I don't think those fixes solve my problem yet. I have tried it all.
I think I shall just delete my save game that lags --' *long sigh* (sorry if it's a wrong session of topic)

That does help. Thou I have tried fixed world. The town which is lagging is Starlight Shore, and lagging still keeps happening in fixed world. So I used porter that you suggested and moved it to other town. No lagging. Thanks
Maybe if I start over it in the same town that lags, it won't lag? I think I shall try.
