Can't install expansions

I downloaded the sims 3 and all it's expansions from this site, and tried to follow this guide: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly
The problem is after I installed the base game I can't install any of the expansions because every one of them says I have to update the game before installing (and when I try to ckick OK to update it says there's an error and the installer shuts down).

What should I do? Should I try to download the latest update manually and install it? I didn't crack the base game, only installed it.
Before I found this site I downloaded many versions of the base game and none of them worked (so I uninstalled them), maybe some registery was left?
