Serious error since I installed seasons.[SOLVED]
Since I installed seasons everytime I try to load a saved game it says "A serious error has occurred while loading savename.sims3. We strongly recommend you to restart the application." and gets back to the main menu. this has happened to me before when I installed pets but it was solved by re installing the base game. Now I tried re installing the base game, running the game without custom content and re installing seasons and nothing seems to solve the problem. Also, I noticed that when I entered seasons for the first time a new "Electronic Arts" folder was created in my documents, leaving 2 "Electronic Arts" folders there. I deleted the one that was created but everytime I start the game it is created again, so I think that's what might be causing the problem, I just have no idea how to fix it.

Try removing the original folder before starting the game, and play testing using the new one the game keeps generating.

Hello,
Also look inside your saves folder and see if one of your saves has a .bad extension.

Re: Serious error since I installed seasons.[SOLVED]
But the .bad extensions are folders, one it's like "starlightshores.sims3.bad" and then another one is of my save in starlight shores "savename.sims3.bad" do I delete them both, the whole folders?

Sorry for the short answer - but was in a hurry.
But yes you must delete the folders, which names are bad, since they are errorsaves and corrupt your loading and causes the fault.
Either that or they became corrupt during the patching, which does happen since they recomment that you backup your save games before patching.

Hello,
What you can do is see if you can still use the backup save. For every save game there is a savename.sims3.backup folder. If you remove the .backup part, and remove the .bad one, you may be able to play your savegame after all. You may have lost some progress, but most likely only a little bit.

I did this, I created a new game, saved it and when I tried to load it the same error came up, also it created another Electronic Arts folderinvalidusername wrote:Try removing the original folder before starting the game, and play testing using the new one the game keeps generating.

I must delete both the .backup folder and the .bad one? I tried
deleting just the .bad one and leaving the backup and the original and
it didn't work

Re: Serious error since I installed seasons.[SOLVED]
What you would do is completely delete the bad folder. Then delete the .backup extension off of the folder with that on it. Then, you can try to play that save again.

I delete the original save and I delete the .backup extension part of the other folder so it opens up as the original, is that it?invalidusername wrote:What you would do is completely delete the bad folder. Hello,
Yes, just rename the folder savegame.sims3.backup, so that it's called savegame.sims3, that should do it.
