Trying to install mods. [SOLVED]

I have the original Sims 3 game downloaded from Origin under Program Files (x86)/Origin Games/The Sims 3, and for some reason it is also installed, alongside my expansions, under Program Files (x86)/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3. From my understanding, the one under Origin games is the primary one since the shortcut leads to it. The expansion packs work just fine, but when I installed some mods, nothing happened. It was a test mod that should've skipped the intro but of course, it didn't work out. Any tips? I believe my version is 1.42 and I'm fairly certain I installed the mods folder perfectly since I've done it before. Should I try installing the mods under Program Files (x86)/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3? Should the delete that folder altogether and work in the Origin Games one instead?

Should be Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3, since putting them in the Program files was the way before EA changed some stuff around.
