My game stops working when trying to save.

My game stops working when trying to save.
To start off:
#1. It's a downloaded copy (which shouldn't matter)
#2. My computer has more then enough resources to handle this game
#3. It's the deluxe edition with all expansions, etc.
#4. I've tried many of the tips and fixes (DEP, etc.) and still nothing.
The issues:
It seems to only happen when certain things are done. It started on a different save when I had a ton of money (without cheats); I sold everything and bought a new plot of land to build my own house. I spent 5 hours straight designing a sweet house. Went to save and 'Stopped working...' Didn't think anything of of it, just a little p'd off. Tried again, built another house just basic frame, saved, stopped working. Sold everything again, saved my sim and loaded him in a new map and basically started all over with just my money and collectables. Built the innitial house, played, saved, etc. all was good.
I didn't like the map so I sold everything again, saved sim again and started on the latest map (Hidden Springs). Built the initial house, etc. Went around collecting gems, seeds, insects, etc., saving once and awhile with success. I then built a greenhouse, saved the game and stopped working error. Started game up again, went right into build mode, built the greenhouse again, tried to save ... stopped working. From game boot up --> building --> save attempt was about 10 minutes game time. Tried twice more this morning and same result, crash. Booted up again had him paint a picture then tried saving and it was ok. So built the greenhouse again ... stopped working.
Is this a known issue? Seems it's just after building something. I've had the game for 2 weeks and never had an issue with this until the last couple days. There's gotta be an easier way then starting again in a new map every time.
Any help would be apprenticed.
EDIT: I have no mods or cheats of any kind.

Re: My game stops working when trying to save.
When it crashes it'll give you a number (usually 12, 13, 15 or 16). Depending on the number, the issue will be detailed below.
- 12: World Save failure (this typically happens only on 32bit systems, due to ram limitations)
- 13: Post-save callback failure (The Sims Studio said they fixed it, so this -shouldn't- be it)
- 15: Open failure.. it couldn't open the file for some reason. Either another process had it opened for some reason (ie: virus scanner) or one of many various other things that could've caused it (ie: no access).
- 16: Loose file copy failure.. it couldn't write to the file. Similar to #15 but for writing instead of opening.
Possible fixes:
- Use "Save As" regularly
- Before starting the game ensure that nothing is in the My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\CurrentGame.sims3 folder
- Delete any folder in My Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3\Saves that has the text ".bad" at the end (ie: Moonlight Falls.sims3.bad)
- Increase your virtual memory
- Use the compatibility wizard and/or run as admin
- If you're using Windows 7, try installing DirectX 9c (see next note)
- If you're using Windows 8, try using Windows 7 [DirectX 9 is incompatible with Win8 - this line is mostly an attempt at humor]
- Make sure you're not out of space on your hard drive
- Delete memories for inactive sims
And one final one that I found to work:
- Use the build mode in Edit Town instead of the one in Live mode.
- 12: World Save failure (this typically happens only on 32bit systems, due to ram limitations)

Re: My game stops working when trying to save.
I can edit my own property in edit town mode?
Thanks for the tips. I'll look out for a number and post back.
