ODD little problem. [SOLVED]

So I downloaded the Sims 3 University. I'm pretty sure that you guys are tired of hearing about this game and the oodles of new problems. I haven't installed it, in fact I haven't even opened it. mainly because I cant. It wont open, its not in a file folder or a zip file. under type it says file, but not file folder and the image for the file is just a blank page. when I try to open it my computer asks me which program I would like to open it with. I'm a tad bit confused. If anyone could help that would be great. I have windows Vista and I do have winrar installed. I used the link provided and the file seems to be the right size so I'm pretty sure it downloaded completely.
any help would be much appreciated and If someone already posted a similar question I apologize I ran a search for similar queries and did not find much.

ah, fixed it. just added .rar at the end...i feel stupid

Just a future tip, right click it, and select "open with" and choose your unraring program.
