Can't Install Sims 3 Expansions

Hello! So I'm new to this, but I've been trying to following the instructions to install Sims 3.
So far I have installed the base and that worked just fine, but then I got all the expansion packs from G4TW and the torrents worked but when I tried to install them it would say they were corrupted and wouldn't let me unzip them.
From my understanding, I cannot make the game work without having at least one expansion pack so now I'm stuck... HELP!

P.s. My computer is a Mac, if that makes a difference.
