QUESTION: Retail sims 3 work with torrented expansions?

hello all, this might be a stupid question but i wanna knwo b 4 i get this downloading. I got a steam version i bought of the sims 3. now i didnt knwo how stupidly priced these expansions are so i was wondering. If i download a expansion from pirate bay will it work with my steam legit sims 3 download...i have a feeling that it wont but had to ask.

yes half of mine are retail copys just a few ive of the torrent sites

just put the fix where the sims 3 is installed

I originally had ALL the expansions and the sims 3 downloaded from a torrent that is no longer on pirate bay. they all installed but when i clicked on the sims 3 launcher it would say "thesims3launcher has stopped working." Was a good setup was a .exe install and everything had all the expansions n that junk just woudnt run any more i donno what happend...was workign fine on my GF's old computer but i upgraded her PC to a i3

there work no problem..... but an i3 what the hell made u get 1 of them lol

it was a huge upgrade from her old computer:

i already noticed a huge improvement :p
plus i got the i3 for 75 bucks. only had to buy the mobo, processor, ram and cd rom...for a total of 128 cant complain.

pritty cheap that in uk £ where im from thats cheap my cpu was £300

ouch bud, GF computer is a i3 mines a i5 that is overclocked to hell and out performes some i7's :p

pritty good then but intel cpus ill never touch em there just crap amds well out proform them

i used to be a hardcore amd guy but there recent cpus are falling well below standards...i might go back to amd in the future but they need to revise there FX CPU's.

ANY WAYS

so i just finished downloading the expansion. Sims 3 is retail install. Do i just normally install the expansion like a normal game and drag n drop the contents of the #crack folder in the main sims 3 folder and run sims 3 via the new TS3W.exe?


Or is there more to it?

no thats it just install like a normal game then put the crack in the base game folder thats it

What if you downloaded the retail game through Origin? Will the torrented expansions work?

The expansions will work if any are installed through origin. If your base game is through origin, you just have to place the crack in "C:/Program Files(86)/Origin Games/Sims 3/Game/Bin"
