Stuck in university

Hey guys, I was playing university an everything was going fine. Then I got to graduation, I graduated and never got the option to go home. So now im stuck in university town with no home. I cant use my phone or select the Dorm i was in either. Unfortunately I saved before realizing what a problem it was. So my question is, is there a fix to this? Or any way to avoid it happening in the future?

Hmm.. For some reason there is no Mods folder in my Sims 3 folder. Where do I put the mods?

OK, Im pretty sure I set the mods up right. ( created a mods folder in the sims 3 folder, and a packages folder in the mods folder. then put the mod files in the packages folder.) But I am kind of confused on what to do after that. Is World view the town editor in the ... menu? And since i dont actually have a house in university what am I supposed to click on? whenever i click on the view house button it just zooms in on whatever piece of land I am over at that time. Also i tried going back to my original town and there is no option to click on my house there, and I see no buttons for the mods. Pretty lost at the moment. Crying or Very sad

Can you go into "edit town" mode and save your sim into the bin ?

Well it seems the mods are setup right this time. But I dont see an option to save my sim to the bin. There is already a file of him in there though, but it is the one of him with the starting $16,000. So I assume it is the Sim when I first created it.

Oops, ok I did find the house and save it to the bin. The problem is I didnt think I had a house. But also it saved all the rest of my old dorm members too.

Just in case, that should be the symbol in the picture above.
This is unfortunately one of the more serious bugs in "University"; the "usual stuff" like cache deleting, removing mods/CC doesn't work here.
But I'll come back to you tomorrow, maybe then I have a bit more energy to look into that, lol. Or maybe another Helper, who has a better idea will have come to you in the meantime.

Alright, then. I've managed to briefly look again into the game. If your "view town" mode somehow doesn't work, you might try this:
- if you start the game, your sim should normally be assigned to a (random?) lot in the University world. If not, try clicking on the floor/ground - wherever you are - and go to NRAAS/MasterController and search for an option called "reset lot". Save & exit the game then. After that restart it and see if you can travel home by phone.
-if not, you might still try using the the "Porter mod". Though I haven't tried that myself yet, but it supposedly helped other people here in travelling back...
-and if that doesn't work either, you have to try - as I said above - saving your sim to the library/bin. Then you have to start a new game and put the saved sim of the library into your new world. You'll lose your house in your (original) homeworld, but that way you'll at least save your sim - and his skills, academic degrees and job experience.

Ahh good to know for the future. I ended up fixing it last night by resetting the lot and dropping out of university, but for some reason the first couple times I dropped out I would get the "travel home" action in the queue but I would just stop at the edge of the map. Eventually I just made a new Sims 3 folder and it worked fine. But for some reason now I keep crashing. But anyway, do you know anyway to prevent the getting stuck in university bug, or would I have to use this method each time? I plan on getting all the Degree's and exploring more.

One thing that caused problems with lots of people (and I don't know if you did that) is the "graduation party". So you should NOT make such a party.

A few more general hints:
-Make a backup of your savegame before travelling to university.
-While at university make regular backups too.
-Don't use the NRAAS Story Progression mod while at university!
-And finally: if you realise that something is wrong with your savegame, DO NOT SAVE Wink

, even if you lose some in-game progress.
