SIMS 3 UNIVERSITY LIFE CRASHES AND ERROR CODE 12

First of all thank you so much for your uncountless help to simmers like us! You are definetly more better than EA's staffs Smile

)

Ok so a 1 month before, I install sims 3 university life, seasons and showtime. I always follow instructions here before installing anything. I think I did a good job when it comes to installing all of my expansion packs, stuff packs, cracks and ultimate fixes. The only stuff packs that i don't have is fastlane, mastersuite, katyperry, diesel stuff, 70'80'90's stuff. So i skip those stuff packs and install expansion packs according to its patch number. I have alot of CC's and about 3 mods that i research if it's compatible with the latest expansions packs and patch. After installing my latest expansions It works fine the first 2 weeks (with error code 12 and edit town crash but tolerable) BUT after PLAYING LAST DAY IT JUST CRASH EVERY FIVE MINUTES OF THE GAMEPLAY. I am very dissappointed because i did nothing, nor even download a new cc or mods.

So today, I started fixing it again by applying the ULTIMATE FIX, DATA EXECUTION PREVENTIONS, and 4gb patch. and in no luck, It's still not yet fixed T_T . So for the second time i did an experiment, I moved my old Sims 3 Folder from documents to desktop. and started a fresh game with no CC'S and MODS at all!! It's running SO GOOD and NO LAGS (no crash from CAS to BUILDMODE , Estimated time playing: 90Minutes )at all, BUT THE WORST PROBLEM IS the ERROR CODE 12 and EDIT TOWN CRASH!. I am so pissed of with that problem. and I dont wanted to lose my hardworks all over again like the last time. I am loosing hope in fixing my sims 3 T_T Please HELP! Thank you in ADVANCE!! Sad

Hello there,

Just to be clear: with the 4 GB patch, did you patch the correct file? You need to patch the "TS3W.exe" in C:/Program files (x86)/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Game/Bin (this is the Sims 3 base game location).
You might try installing the Errortrap mod , which can reduce the likelihood of the error 12 message. You might also want to check out my suggestions about memory deletion in this topic. If you still encounter that error 12 message, then try shortening your playing sessions! You should save often, like about every 10 real-life minutes or so.

You can also still try deleting the cache files in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3, which should be done on a regular basis, but especially when you add new CC, mods, expansions, if you patch your game and even if you update your graphics driver.
-CASPartCache.package
-compositorCache.package
-scriptCache.package
-simCompositorCache.package
-socialCache.package
-plus the contents of the folders "WorldCaches" & "Thumbnails"

So far these were rather small suggestions. If you still have problems, we'll discuss other options.

Thank You So Much for the fast reply! I tried once again returning my saves, cc's and the no intro mod and errror trap mode (latest) in my new sims 3 folder in documents! It's woking fine now, like i can go in edit town and save only once! (2nd save: error code 12 and crashes)

I didn't know that the base game should be patched in 4gb! Thanks for that! But should i always execute 4gb patch everytime i play?

Will update more if there will be problems! Very Happy

Well, that sounds at least like some small progress. And you should not patch the base game everytime you want to play Wink

- only once.
Alright, I still have some suggestions:

In this topic here you might find #3 (assigning more RAM to memory, if you haven't done that already) and #4 interesting. For more detailed information about system requirements, I recommend this article here .
After the game crashes, always make sure to delete the contents of the folder "Currentgame.sims3" (in Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3) before you restart the game; otherwise you might get all sorts of game conflicts.
And, of course, after your short playing session, you should exit the game (to "relieve" the RAM). Then start the game again.

You might also try lowering your in-game graphics settings, if you haven't done that too.

I've heard so much problems with the memmories? Should i try the Master Controller? And whats actually the purpose of that? will that reduces the ram usage and save file size? I've also checked my specs and my graphics card are compatible with the my expansions.

- UPADTE: My game crashes without any errors. I've forgot to save hahaha. Ill try again! Thanks for the replies!

These "memories", taken together, need lots of RAM and will also increase the size of your savefile. And yes, you could try that too (with MasterController).

OK, I'm back online now. A few other thoughts on that problem:

-What kind of CC and mods are you using ? Try again without any CC (for a quick guide on removing them, see this topic here). Also make sure to remove mods, apart from the NRAAS ones, and the "NoIntro"-mod.
-Try again to start a new savegame.
-Does this problem happen in a particular world ? If yes, try another world.

Hello Sorry for the long wait. I''ve been busy last week -.-

UPDATE! : Ok so, after I finish building my house (Lucky Palms World - Nraas -TURNED OFF MEMMORIES and No FAMILY YET) It takes about 18 hours to finish, And I'am so happy that it didn't crash even once and Did alot of saves. But after making my new family and moving to the house, The PROBLEMS that I encountered last time begun showing again. Multiple Crashes, Error Code 12 and A lot of Restart. Sad

( Is there something wrong with the family? Please Help! Thank you again in Advance!
