The Sims 3 Mac Freeze/Crash

So, I got the Sims 3 and the expansions I wanted installed. However, now the game continues to either freeze, to where I have to turn of the computer, or it will crash altogether. I have looked up several suggestions here on the forums and have tried deleting the recommended cache files, I've reapplied the expansion cracks, the manual patch and the base game crack. Nothing has resolved the problem, however. My Mac is not that old, it is from the updated set towards the end of 2011, and I have had no problems with it in terms of graphics etc.

Are there any other suggestions as to what I could do?

Unfortunately, Mac users have this problem more, and you tried every possible solutions as fas as I know. I am looking for more though, to help you out. But the thing came my mind is Sims 3 needs at least 1 GB free space, are you sure you have enough space on your computer?

Other than that, please try to play it window not full-screen. And observe if it makes any difference on performance and let me know the results.

I assume you mean 1 GB of memory? I have 4 GB of memory on the computer. And there is no conflict for actual hard drive space as I have 470 GB left there.

I don't mean memory, I mean 1 GB disk space You need to have a free disk space for the game files.

And what about playing it in windowed mode?

I tried playing in windowed mode, and I both lowered the games resolution and the display's resolution. The game lasted a bit longer, however, it ultimately still crashed.

95% of the time this happens in Create a Sim, and as I am going through the clothing options, some of the files - not store content or mods - are corrupted and the in game icons are pixilated/patchy. Could it be a problem with those files?

Is it possibly something to do with the disk images I had to create to install the files on a Mac?

Oh,

It means you need to update your game, either from the launcher or manually.

Patch your game, and apply the crack with using Ultimate Fix(I am assuming that you are familiar with it) then let me know the result.

I have already previously re-applied both the manual patch and the fix. It still crashes.

Then, please follow these steps one by one:

1. Go to your Documents/EA Games/The Sims 3 file. 
2. Rename the file something else, for example "The Sims3."
3. Then start your game with usual way. At this point game will regnerate another documents folder, and it'll be like you start your game from the beginning.
4. Just start playing for observing the game. Does it craches or freezes at some point?
5. If not, something in your old documents corrupted or simply ruins the game.

Please use this way and let me know the result.

I renamed the folder "The Sims 3_" and launched the game. In the usual manner, it lasted a few minutes longer. And in a lower resolution and windowed mode, it lasted a little longer than that and crashed.

At this point, should I uninstall everything, delete the disk images and re-install everything?

It still froze. I suppose, then, it is something I am doing wrong, or the computer.

Awkward.. I've found more possible solutions, please try them too and let me know the result:


"1. Delete Preferances:
/Users//Library/Preferences/The Sims 3 Preferences folder


2. Delete caches:
"Diskname"/Library/Caches/"anything with Sims 3 in it"
/Users/"Username"/Library/Caches/"anything with Sims 3 in it"


3. Repair permissions
/Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility, "Repair Permissions"
If repairing permissions mention some error or of files being locked, reboot the system and try that step again."

I am not usually superstitious, however, I am hesitant to say with complete confidence that it's working. However, after repairing the actual HD and the permissions as well, and deleting the files once more, the game ran for about an hour and a half before I saved and quit. That said, for the moment it seems the problem has been take care of, thank you very much for your help. I really appreciate it.
