The Sims 3: Generations crashing

I downloaded the torrent, and at first I mistakenly put the crack into the bin folder of the expansion's files, and then after I read it was supposed to go into the base game files, I put it in the right folder but I never deleted the crack from the wrong folder. So I went to go play the game all seemed well though there was a lot of glitches. Then after about 7 minutes each time, my game kept crashing.

I realized I never deleted the crack, and I did so and everything was running smoothly except it seems to crash every 15 to 20 minutes now. I do remember experiencing crashes every once and a while since I got the outdoor living stuff torrent. I don't know if it's that that is conflicting the game, or what? Is there any fix to this like maybe a patch? My launcher says I still need to update my game, but I think if I update it will ruin the torrent, right?

Hi there. So I do things differently than Admin suggest and I will pass my method on to you. Its really quite simple, install every game in the order they were released from EA, updating each to the latest version before installing the next. Once you have installed Generations, apply the crack and you should be good to go. I do get the outdated mod pop up at the beginning of the game, but I just press continue and it works fine and dandy, no glitches, no crashing, just smooth gameplay. Hope this helps you out.

First of all, you don't need to update your game after every installation of a new expansion. Just install them all, then you only need to do one update, then crack.

So yes, go ahead and update, and then crack using this: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t752-the-sims-3-ultimate-fix-should-fix-most-of-your-problems

But remember to ONLY use the Generation crack, placing it in C:/Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Game/Bin.

Thanks guys, sorry I'm kind of new here. So do I need to uninstall generations in order to update, or do I leave it as is and then reapply the crack after I'm done?

You do not need to uninstall generations. Just replace the cracks using the original files found in the fix. Then you should be able to update like that. Then reapply the crack.

Ahh thanks so much! I'm updating now. So last question, after I apply this crack, will I be able to update freely or each update will I need to replace the crack? I just want to make sure I have everything clear. Sorry for being such a noob hahah.

You will need to replace the cracks once again to update in the future. So when they release the next game, if you decide to install The Sims 3: Pets you will need to replace the generations crack with the original files.

When new updates are available for The Sims 3, Admin will release cracks for them as they are released, I believe.

Yes, that's what I do to. The thing is that I try to keep the instructions as easy as possible for everyone. There's no problem if you install the updates after the installation of each expansion - that's what I do when I help people via TeamViewer -, but some people have low internet speeds and it's just not efficient for them, since Generations already includes the most updates. (So you've already downloaded them with the torrent)

Yes, I update the Fix whenever new updates/files/cracks are released.

Do you get an error or something? Perhaps the "Invalid file" error? If yes, please reinstall the base game and Generations as following:

1. Uninstall both of them.
2. Restart your PC.
3. Reinstall the base game.
4. Reinstall Generations.
5. Apply this fix: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t752-the-sims-3-ultimate-fix-should-fix-most-of-your-problems (Read the instructions very carefully!)

Lol, Kidd must have updated the last post. All it said when I replied was thank you. The not updating part is new to me.

Haha, I thought that.

I don't know why my game wasn't letting me install the update, it kept saying error about something. So I uninstalled EVERYTHING except I saved my saved games and cc, and come to find out I had issues even installing, it was saying I had an I/O issue and I found out my disk has a lump on it making it useless.

So, I contacted EA support and was able to download the digital version of the game, except now I don't see any bin files and the crack is not working for generations. D: ahhh Do torrents work with the digital version?

Not sure, my suggestions is just download the games4theworld version of the games from piratebay. I installed every game using those versions.

I was doing that before I got the digital version and then stupid me decided to cancel it and it was at 50% lol

Ah man, that is a bummer. Ok, well would you mind going to Program Files/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/Game/Bin/ and tell me if there is anything? If there isn't maybe the files are hidden because they may be considered compatibility files on your computer? If so there should be an option to view them.

The only thing in it is another folder called bin, all of the files in the C:/ rive are empty except the mods folder.

Then I would suggest deleting the Electronic Arts folder and do a fresh install following this guide:

I'm sorry, but what do you mean all of the folders in the C:/ Drive are empty? There should be a decent number of files withing the Game/Bin/ folder otherwise the game wouldn't work I would expect.

I don't know they just aren't there, with the digital game it downloads so differently, I didn't even need to put in a serial number and it installed within 3 minutes. I tested the game though and it works fine, it's just when I try to install the torrents, it says I need the disk. (even with the cracks)

I have yet to try the compatibility files thing yet, I'm going to do that right now and check

I can't even find the compatibility files oh well I have been downloading the base game torrent it's at 44% already ahh I guess today is just not my lucky day lol.

Well games can be unpredictable, especially if you are using a file with some of the coding removed, which is what a crack is. When you have the installed the torrent version let me know if everything works for you. If not I'd be willing to help you using Teamviewer.
