I'm trapped in Kingdom Mode! Help me out?

Hello, so I installed The Sims Medieval and played through the tutorial and then it took me to "Kingdom Mode" so i could build the barracks. I built the barracks and tried to create a knight and when it wouldnt let me go to "create a sim" i just picked a preset. I cannot get out of kingdom mode, I cannot save and I cannot quit. I heard that if you choose a quest and save during the quest it works fine. I tried to do this but when I click the "Quest" button the throne room and barracks icons fade for a second and then come back and nothing happens. I have triend to uninstall/reinstall, downgrade, and I also have applied the Ultimate Fix. I am out of ideas. Please help!
