Game crashes when loading neighbourhood

I'm becoming a little bit desperate here :(I've never signed up for a forum because usually I can figure out solutions myself, but I've been sitting behind my computer wasting my time on that stupid Sims 3 for so long I am coming here to ask for your help...

I've recently installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit on my pc. I've had Windows XP 32-bit on the same pc before and the Sims 3, along with all the expansions, worked fine. I've installed the Sims 3 + all expansions and stuff packs again, but everytime I want to start a new game, the game crashes when loading the neighbourhood. My monitor says 'no signal', but it seems like the game is running on my pc because the music remains and my pc doesn't shut off. I have to force it to shut off because I can't do anything.
I've had a good search on the forums and tried reinstalling, I've followed your guide on 'how to install the sims 3 correctly' + I don't have any custom content installed.. I don't know what to do.

Thanks for your help, but I've already tried that and the exact same thing happens. I think it would be very weird that it'd be the graphic driver that's messing with the game, because when I had Windows XP installed on the very same PC with the very same graphic card, the game ran very smooth and I've never had trouble playing it.
