Problem with Origin and pirated content. Empty Problem with Origin and pirated content.

Post by Guest Thu 29 Aug 2013, 05:01

Hello all, first of all I'd like to thank all the content providers here for providing all of the updates, fixes, and DLC/Expansions for totally free. It's truly amazing.

Unfortunately for me I am having issues with this content.

I purchased the Sims 3 starter pack from the origin humble bundle. Not only am I sick of Origin now, but I also wanted to try some of the expansions without actually having to spend $30 for each expansion. So, I went ahead and downloaded Island Paradise from this website. The base game was installed and updated to 1.55 already so I downloaded Island paradise, installed it, and then got the Ultimate Fix. I copied the files to their Appropriate positions, and finally copied the crack to where my installation is, which happens to be: J:\Origin Games\The Sims 3\

Now, whenever I launch the game, it launches Origin, and then Origin comes up saying "Error launching Sims 3: The Sims 3 is not installed, try relaunching"

I am not sure what to do at this point, I have followed the instructions line per line and am pretty sure I didn't copy anything to the incorrect spot.

Also, something to note, if I replace the cracked files in the base game folder with the files from the "All expansion packs" folder in the Ultimate Fix, the launcher will run, but upon attempting to start the game, it crashes instantly with the "Sims 3 has stopped responding" error.

If you require more information I will upload screenshots.

Thank you for your assistance Very Happy

Can you post the contents of the Sims3LauncherLogFile.log? Its found in your My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims3 folder.

You can also try launching the game from the install folder by double clicking on the TS3W.exe file

That log file is empty, and running TSW3.exe renders the same results

There are other log files that look like this: "xcpt ST-PC 13-08-28 22.33.05" (ST-PC is the name of my desktop)

Heres what it contains:

ok lets try this. go to "J:\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin\TS3W.exe" and right click on TS3W.exe, select Properties/Compatibility and check the box by "Run this program as an Administrator", click Apply. Then double click on TS3W.exe. It should launch the game, bypassing the launcher

After trying this, the launcher launches, but now I get "There was an error during startup. See the log for more details". I already checked my registry and there are no leftover or unused Sims 3 Expansions there, the only ones there are the ones I installed and want to use.

Anon232 wrote:Hello all, first of all I'd like to thank all the content providers here for providing all of the updates, fixes, and DLC/Expansions for totally free.

Hello,

Can you show us the screenshot of where you applied the #crack of the Ultimate Fix to? That would really help solve the problem. For "error during starup" problem, I suggest you have a look at this video:

No, I purchased it as an external drive, but I took it out of it's enclosure and hooked it up as an internal through a SATA connection, it's no different than a standard 3TB drive now.

Hello,

Did you install The Sims 3 and other expansions when it's still an external drive? If yes, please make sure the drive letter now is the same as the drive letter when you installed The Sims 3 and the expansions. If not, open "Start" Menu and right-click computer and choose "Manage". Go to drive management and right-click J Drive and reassign a letter (the letter same as the one when you installed The Sims 3 and the expansions).

No, it has always been drive letter J, I never used it as an external drive. The base game + late night/high end packs worked fine before I tried installing Island Paradise + the ultimate fix.

Hello,

Since I don't know what the root of your problem is, I suggest we have a Teamviwer session to find out. Can you download Teamviewer here and go to "Remote Control" tab and give me the ID and password via private message. Teamviewer grants me permission to temporarily control your pc so that I can know deeply where your problem is.
