General question about blue screens of death
Do those BSODs cause damage to your hard drive? I'm experiencing frequent crashes from TS3: Medieval and I was wondering if continuing to play would hurt my laptop.

Re: General question about blue screens of death
Hello,
First of all, I don't know a lot about BSOD's, but I'm sure our Mod M4dm4n knows some stuff about them.
I don't think they'll cause problems to your HDD, but besides that it's not fun to play a game if it crashes all time...
You could try this: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t857-the-sims-3-crashes-to-desktop-fix , but then add the Sims: Medieval launcher instead of the Sims 3 launcher.

Nope, but they can be caused by damaged hard drives. In your case, it sounds like either bad RAM or a possible bad driver. If you can get me any info from the BSOD, the most helpful would be the strings starting with "STOP: 0x000000XX", the last 2 "X" are going to be any combination of letters and/or numbers (I really only need those last 2 numbers/letters). This info usually also pops up after a restart asking if you want to send the report to Microsoft, anything within that reports details starting with 0x would be helpful too, since it's the same error string. I can then tell you what to test for in terms of those errors, whether it is RAM, a driver that needs rolled back, a HDD going kaput, or anything else.

Oh
I've been getting BSOS.
And it all started when I unzipped Casino Tycoon from this site, using 7zip.
Anywho, here's some info:
I'm ona windows 7 32 bit system, service pack 1.
Here's the order of the info I get when it does crash:
kernel_Data_inpage_error
dxgkrnl.sys
STOP: 0X00000079 (though the last digit could possibly be 4)
Thanks.

This is how .rar files should be opened:
Open the .rar file you downloaded using only WinRar, which can be downloaded from www.games4theworld.org . (If you use any other software than WinRar, like WinZip or 7-zip, the files will get messed up!)
When you've opened the file using WinRar, select áll the files in it and drag & drop them to a folder on your Desktop. When the extraction is done, close the .rar file and open the folder on your Desktop.
Now, start by reading the included "# Installation Guide.txt" and you should be able to get the game to work yourself. Good luck!

Re: General question about blue screens of death
Oh - the game worked, even without using winrar.
And when I kept getting the BSOS and the comp crashing symtoms, I uninstalled casino tycoon. I then unzipped it, with winrar, and got it to work - but the damage had been done.
So any ideas?

It might work, but it might also cause problems (like this). Though I'm not 100% sure it is. This could also be caused by a hardware error in your PC. (Usually the RAM)
"The damage had been done"; so you mean you keep getting the BSoD?

Re: General question about blue screens of death
To overcome the BSOD problem. You should update all of your driver included your window. Especially your graphic card driver.
And then, please remove the latest software/game you installed. That you think caused your BSOD problem.
After that, please wait for the next BSOD. If you still got any BSOD.
You can ask for help at http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/.
They are expert in BSOD problem.
PS: Hardware problem can be one of the reason. If you like, you can remove your Ram, and check it one by one. (If you have more than 1 RAM)
