Windows 8 64-Bit Issues
Hi guys!
I am helpless here...I keep reading about Sims 3 not being compatible with Windows 8 64bit... but coming across here I can see some of you run Sims 3 on Windows 8!?
Can you confirm Sims runs on Windows 8/64bit following G4W installation instruction with Ultimate fix?
I have brand new laptop with Windows 8/64bit support, I've managed to install Sims and all EP, updated via Sims Patch Downloader with no problem at all, ran in compatibility mode and nothing...it' loads main screen and keeps crashing
Should I change to windows 7 OS or to give Windows 8 second chance?
Please help!!!

Re: Windows 8 64-Bit Issues
Hello,
Please try to run without the Compatibility thing.
From what I've seen, it is mostly a question of hardware, i.e. the graphic card that you have, more than the OS.
Also, launching the game in Administrator mode helps a lot.

I have Windows 8 64bit and mine runs fine. Just a bit laggy because of my crappy Intel HD 3000 graphics :/

Re: Windows 8 64-Bit Issues
thank you guys for your fast reply! I've tried to ran as admin as well but it's loading forever.
I have Asus X750jb (Intel Core i7 4700HQ, dual grphic card: Integrated Intel HD Graphics 4600 & NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M with 2GB DDR3 VRAM)
which should run games and programs with no problem.
Also tried to update my graphic card (Nvidia) but I'm having some difficulties here as well (Installer Cannot Continue The Graphics Driver Could Not Find Compatible Graphics Hardware Installer).
So maybe is problem with dual graphic card after all...Have to deal with that first, then unistall and install sims again... so I'm really thinking of installing win7 even though Asus doesn't give support. Wish me luck and I will let you know..

No! Wait!!
No need to uninstall anything. Figure out how to update your NVIDIA card drivers, that is most probably where the problem lies!

Hello,
Here's the driver you're (probably) looking for:
Windows 8, 64 bit:
http://www.nvidia.co.uk/object/notebook-win8-win7-64bit-320.49-whql-driver-uk.html
Windows 8.1, 64 bit: None available yet.

Re: Windows 8 64-Bit Issues
Not yet, I'm about to.
Thank you, it is the right driver but I have this issue Installer Cannot Continue The Graphics Driver. Found solution on youtube "How to Fix NVIDIA Driver Update Installer Error" so I'm about to start.

Re: Windows 8 64-Bit Issues
Now I'm officially done with Windows 8!!! Dislike became hatred!
After resolving the issue "Installer Cannot Continue. The Graphics Driver Could Not Find Compatible Graphics Hardware Installer" I could not be able to update my graphic card.
To resume: WIN 8 PRO, 64BIT DIRECTX RUNTIME VERSION: 11.0 GRAPHICS CARD: GEFORCE GT 740M DRIVER VERSION: 311.27 Wanted to update to version 320.49. Installer couldn't find compatible graphic card, had to do it manually. Did that successfully. Installation result was:
PhysX Systerm Software (V9.13.0604.) not installed
HD Audio Driver (1.3.24.2) not installed
Graphics Driver (320.49) failed
Nvidia Geforce Experience (1.5) not installed
After all, the driver which I have already installed is dating May 5th 2013. Why is that not good enough to run Sims 3?
I'll try to install W7/64 bit next :/
