Help with install of Sims 3 Expansion Packs Empty Help with install of Sims 3 Expansion Packs

Post by Guest Sun 15 Sep 2013, 13:00

Hello,

My son has a windows 8 laptop and has the Sims 3 and about 6 expansion packs (all original) already installed.
I was going to install some extra expansion packs that I obtained but I wanted to know if it would mess up the original game at all?
Can updates still be done the original way after installing a cracked expansion pack?
I was going to follow this https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t1171-must-read-how-to-install-the-sims-3-correctly.
Hoping someone could please assist me so I don't mess up my sons The Sims 3 game.

Thanks

Hello,

Simply install any expansions/stuff packs you want and then apply steps 2-4 of the guide you have just mentioned Wink .

Hello,

It should be no problem at all, unless your son is using Steam, or has a deluxe edition of the base game. Patching can be done with the ultimate fix if you want to use the launcher, or with the manual patch. Links to both can be found in that topic.
If there are problems, don't hesitate to ask!

Wow guys you rock.
Thanks so much I will give it a go.
BTW I should really say a BIG hello to everyone also.
Is it easier me doing manual or using the ultimate fix?

You need both to make the game work.
Manual Patch is here to update your game to the latest version.
Ultimate Fix makes your game work, but is only compatible with the latest version.

Can I ask that if I apply the manual patch to upgrade will we still get updates through the launcher or will all updates from then on be manual?

That depends...
But most of the time you will need to use the Manual Patch anyway!

A BIG thank you to all that helped me.
My son now has 5 more expansion packs working fine and is so excited.
Just a pity I didn't find this site a little earlier so he could have saved some money.
