Expansion pack not being reconized?

So I downloaded a torrent of the Sims 3 that has The Sims 3 base game and everything else all the way up to Showtime, witch is completely working with no problems at all. So I downloaded a separate torrent of Sims 3 University Life and installed it on mac with no problems, but when I click on the University Life icon it opens up Showtime(like it did before University Life was installed). Then in the game luncher on the bottom where it shows you what is installed everything up until Showtime is installed, but University Life towards the end of the list is greyed out. So I would like to know how to fix the problem and get University Life to be found and work? Thanks

no I installed it and just tried to play it, but it did what I said before. Also, it is located in the same folder as all the other icons as well so I'm assuming it was installed correctly. Maybe I'm not doing something right, But I'm new to this crack etc etc kind of stuff sorry

Download the latest Ultimate Fix from here:

Apply the two files in the #crack folder here:


Applications> The Sims 3 (right click to get "show package contents" >Contents>Resources>transgaming>c_drive>Program Files>Electronic Arts> The Sims 3>Game>Bin

If it doesn't work, please update to version 1.57 via the launcher before applying the fix again.

So I did already have the latest version and I did the fix I just did not know the name of the fix, and the games work like before with no University Life showing up and the same thing when I click on the University Life icon.

In that case, you can try installing University Life again and reapply the Ultimate Fix (make sure it is the latest one).

I have had this problem before and reinstalling the expansion pack worked for me.

I just reinstalled it and still no luck at all, but again it is in the correct folder "AddOns" like all the rest of them that work are. Also, I just applied the crack and it still does not work.

Hmm.. I guess we need to back track a little. 
Please answer the following questions so that I can better understand and help you:

1) Where did you get your base game from? (You can tell me the name or something. Please do not post any external links here!)
2) Did you download your expansion pack as an .iso? 
3) How did you patch your game? Manual patch or via launcher?
4) When did you download the Ultimate Fix?
5) Have you tried to read the Mac guide to see if you have done any step wrong?

Sometimes it takes a while to figure a problem out.. I hope you are as patient as I am

I'm sorry but what is this addons folder you are talking about? Do you mind showing me a screenshot of that folder as well as a screenshot of your launcher? Thanks

I don't remember, but it was a torrent and no it was not a .ISO it was a one of thous that was pre installed or what ever and I applied the #crack to the base game and all of it worked. I did it via the luncher and download the ultimate fix from this site. About the add on folder that is just a folder it made where it installs the expansions, I guess because all the expansion icons are in there. As for the luncher its the normal sims 3 luncher and Sims 3 Showtime is whats is in the dock.

Yesterday from the forum where its located on the site. But the University Life is an .ISO and I did have to install it witch I did but the 1st torrent was what I told you pre installed

If you have followed all the instructions to install properly, then unfortunately I think the problem lies with your pre-installed base game. 

You can try installing another expansion pack such as seasons and if the problem is similar, that means your base game is not suitable for installing newer expansion packs..

I'm hoping you have applied the ultimate fix in the right place though. . Have you checked with the mac guide to see if you applied it correctly? 

If you have tried all my suggestions and they still don't work, the only solution I have left is to download another base game and reinstall the expansions one by one.

Here is an update, So I got another copy of the base game and installed the same copy sims 3 University Life when I go to open it up this time around University Life does come up on the dock. But I get a message that says "unknown error occurred" every time I click on the Sims 3 base game and Sims 3 University Life what should I do?

2) Update to 1.57 via launcher.
3) Install University Life.
4) Apply Ultimate Fix

First off the launcher will not even load so I got tired of it and deleted it and then I ended up getting a 3rd different copy of the sims 3 base game from Pirate Bay but it was a games4theworld one and I got it up but the launcher said it was a bad copy and when I click it to start it, just bounces on the dock and closes shortly after(the base game only installed so far)

Did you use the manual patch at all? On Windows the greyed out icons is usually fixed by downloading and applying the latest manual patch.
