Installation Question Empty Installation Question

Post by Guest Mon 23 Sep 2013, 05:47

Hi, if this is in the incorrect area, please move it to the correct one.

Here is my issue. I just started back to play The Sims 3 and I have been collecting the games, stuff, store content, etc. Now I had previously installed it, created a few sims and played a short bit, nothing major. I just bought a brand new HD because my main one (for the first time ever) is nearly full! Since The Sims is such a large game and is really eating a lot of resources, I've decided to put it on the 2nd internal hard drive.

Now, that you know the situation, here is my real question. What do you recommend as the best way to re-install every game pack, stuff pack, world, and store contents so the game works properly. There is so much to install, that I want to make sure I do it right the first time. I know my first step is to export the sims I created before I uninstall!

I'm feeling a little overwhelmed by this whole re-installation process and some advice would be great! Thank you!

Hello,

Did you previously uninstall all of the base game and the expansion packs/stuff packs in Control Panel? Did you remove your saves, custom content and mods?

I haven't un-installed it yet. I want to export the sims I created first (which I'll do tomorrow), then start the un-install process. Perhaps, my first question should have been, how do I do a complete, absolute, clean un-install off my main hard drive, before installing it onto the slave?

Hello,

You should back up the folder C:\Users\(your computer name)\Documents\Electronic Arts\The Sims 3. That way you don't need to export the sim. After installation you can place it back to its original location. Download Your Uninstaller Pro from www.gams4theworld.org and uninstall all of the base game and the expansion packs/stuff packs with Your Uninstaller Pro Super Mode. Afterwards, you can start installing the base game.

Remember to apply the manual patch (download it here) first before installing any expansion packs/stuff packs. Afterwards, install any expansion packs/stuff packs you want and apply the LATEST Ultimate Fix.

Installation Question Empty Re: Installation Question

Let me make sure I have this down correctly before I start.

1. Back up the folder mentioned above. This will save my sims I created w/o having to export them, correct? Will it also leave them in the "sim bin" for later use?

2. Download the above mentioned uninstaller and clean out everything.

3. Install the base game on the slave drive, apply the manual patch.

4. Start installing all the games, worlds, stuff packs, store content, etc. and then apply the ultimate fix, which means I don't have to apply a patch to each and every pack I install each time. I just install everything (after the base game and patch), then patch them all via the ultimate fix.

Did I get that correct? I really want to keep my sims I saved to the sim bin.

If you back up that entire folder your sims and progress in game will be saved so you can copy them back later.

AS for installing, yes install the base game then patch/update. Install the EPs and SPs you want then it wont hurt to run the manual patch again so that item specific fixes can be applied. YOu can then apply the Ultimate Fix and start simming.

Thanks to everyone! Very helpful! Is there a way to find just the sims I saved to the sim bin, as I don't really want to continue my current game, I was going to start over.

If you copy back the "Sims 3" folder where it belongs, and in the new savegame go into "edit town-mode", you should see the sims there - in the bin.

Hello,

Please go to this page: http://games4theworld.org/downloads.html.

Afterwards, hold Ctrl+F at the same time and type "Your Uninstaller! Pro" in the box and press Enter. The link should show up.
