Sims will not work/ install. [SOLVED]

I recently upgraded from my pc to a mac and I wrongly assumed it would be as easy as it is on pc to install sims 3. So for the past three days I've tried every possible solution from the forum, and followed the g4tw mac guide on installing. The furthest I've gotten is getting the base game installed, but so far cannot successfully update the game or install an expansion pack (installer says to install it i must already have sims 3 installed) 

Any help would be appreciated

No, I have it on disc. I've also downloaded the mac cracked version from piratebay to see if that would work instead but both produce the same results. although with the disc i can get the expansions to install, they just don't show up, or even look like they have been installed, even though the installer claims it was a successful install. With the expansions some are on disc, some are download from piratebay

Which version of base game you're using? I recommending this version. It doesn't have a crack as it's already cracked.

After downlading the game and install it simply by extracting it in your Applications, just download the Manual Update for Mac, and when it's done, run it, choose the Applications/The Sims 3 icon when pop up says to choose location.

After managing to update your game successfuly, you can install every expansion pack you want. My advise to you going with the order of the packs.

After installing all the packs you wany, just update your main game again (Macs usually needs that) and apply the Ultimate Fix for Mac. You need to crack your game, otherwise it won't work. Then you're done!

Thats the exact version I'm using. I've done exactly that but the expansions will not install, unless i try installing with my base game disc but then Sims won't update but the expansions will install, but they then don't show up like they have installed. Also with the pre cracked mac sims is it normal for the "You are playing a non final unauthorised copy of sims 3" to still be showing up even after it has updated successfully?

When you update your game, you need a crack to prevent that "unauthorised" line. How you unzip the game sfiles you downloaded? Do you creating .dmg files tp open them?

Whenever I tried to install an Expansion Pack,it told me that I should have Sims 3 installed as well. Although installer shows "*/Applications" as installation directory,you SHOULD select your "Applications" directory manually by clicking "Choose..." (or whatever it is). It fixed my "Sims must be installed" issue.

The unauthorised line pops up on the pre cracked game also, i haven't used the ultimate fix yet though as I'm still trying to get everything installed, that'd probably solve that problem. First i tried just the 'inbuilt' mac unzipper but i thought maybe that was the problem so i downloaded the unarchiver. and for the expansions i'm creating the .dmg files with the disk utility 

Yeah I noticed that after about 50 attempts haha, i have changed it but it still pops up with the same o_O

Yes, you are receiving the error since you have not used the Ultimate Fix yet. Please make sure you read the mac guide carefully:

For the expansions, you MUST use Stuffit Expander to unpack the files before creating the .dmg files.

Try following the guide exactly and let us know if you still have any problems.

In case you are confused, here are some simplified steps:


1) Unzip the base game and drag it into your Applications folder.
2) Update your base game to V1.57 (via launcher is preferred).
3) Unzip your expansion packs via Stuffit Expander.
4) Make .dmgs of the EPs with Disk Utility (Follow the Mac Guide!)
5) Install the EPs (Safest to do them in order).
6) Apply Ultimate Fix (only the two files in #crack folder).

Turns out my problem was not selecting the correct applications folder to install expansions to, i was changing it to the one that popped up in the username folder assuming that that would be the correct folder, when as soon as i selected the favourites bar applications it worked. Which is weird cos when i was using my disc base game version expansions installed without having to change the install location

Yes, you are right. There are actually two Applications folders :)If you picked the one under your name it wouldn't work.

Well i thought that was it but now trying to load it and i get this


A quick google is showing nothing up so far, could i have cracked it wrong? i only applied the # crack folder to exactly where it said in the guide, which has worked in the past on pc so assumed would be the same

While trying to install the game have you reinstalled it several times? If you did, this error is probably caused if you did not perform a clean uninstall before reinstalling.

Reason being the old files tend to mess with the new files. I apologise for not reminding you earlier

Literally just got it to run, all i did was reapply the latest patch after another google suggested it was a patch related issue and now runs perfectly so far. yay!
