Sims 3 will not work and wont let me re-install. [SOLVED]

SO I have tried several times....
a window pops up and it says existing installed instances detected
select the appropriate application instance to maintain or update.
I looked and sims 3 isnt on there..... the sims 3 file located in the EA folder is gone......
I have no
idea what to do

Have you looked at your control panel? If you haven't, do. See if you can uninstall the program from there. Run something like Ccleaner or tune up to remove traces, then try again.

what is Ccleaner? are these things i should install? also I did try removing it from uninstall and it wont

Its a tool that helps you remove parts of files like registry entries. Its not something you *should* install but it can come in handy.
Have you tried removing it with control panel? That should work. You can also simply delete your install folder, but I wouldn't recommend that. Not as your best option anyway. But if all else fails, it could help. It leaves you with traces from your previous install though, so its best to look at other options first.

it still says I cant do it.... I ran the PC Cleaner and tried uninstalling from control panel and I get the same message and window I got i mentioned in my first post

Tried re-installing and it said that a previous version 1.00.631 of the sims is already installed.
this set installs an earlier version of the sims(1.0.615)
you will have to uninstall the previous version before installing this version

Hmm ok I'm at a loss for further advice about uninstalling, I've never experienced a refusal to uninstall as persistent as what you describe.
When you installed it, did you run a "typical" install? That means the game was installed on the C: drive in program files. After that, did you apply all the appropriate cracks&fixes? If you have and its not working still, I'm at a real loss. Hopefully someone else can be of help if that's the case.

Ok how about searching your pc for files and folders. Search for Sims 3
You should get every file associated with the Sims 3. Delete them from there, then run Ccleaner or Tuneup.
