Sims 3 Generations Installation problem

I'm trying to install Generations and during the setup it tells me that I have to update sims 3 before this product can be installed. But then i get an error message saying that "Update of the sims 3 failed, Setup is unable to continue" please help.

Have you installed any expansion packs before trying Generations?

I have all the expansions installed. and they were all working fine until i updated my launcher. im currently at version 7.3.2.011031

Please apply this Fix, but only up to the step where you update the game. Don't move on in applying the Crack!
Now, try to install Generations and see if it makes any difference. (The difference now is that you have the original files for the game applied and you've got the latest version)

ok, i copied over all the cracks for the expansions i have and now im updating the launcer and it gave me the message to update but now they are no updates available

Skip the Generations step, move on to the next step. Note that those files you see are not the crack files, but the original files used for updating the game without any problems. The actual crack is in the "# Crack" folder. (The one you DO NOT need to apply at this point yet)

its still telling me my base game is not compatible and to update it but its still saying my game is up to date

ok, well after about 5 or 6 tries, it updated and is contiunuing to install generations

once Generations was done installing, i went ahead and finished applying the ultimate fix and everything seemed to be working fine except that now the game freezes after it loads up.

First of all, could you do me a favour and edit your message if there are no replies, instead of posting 5 posts?

i added the files to the DEP and that didnt work so then i started with the switches and now the sims wont open at all
