Sims 2 Expansions installation

When I do the update installation for any of the Sims 2 expansion packs, it says there's an error and quits the installation process and then uninstalls the whole expansion. This is after I've mounted the Sims 2 disc 4 .mds file. I tried to just exit out of the update, but it still came up with the error message and uninstalled. I contacted support and they said to try mounting it "their" way with Daemon Tools (I use Magic Disc). I did and still had the same issue.

Anyone know of a fix for this issue?

I used to have this issue, but I didn't get it with G4tW's version.

I was sneaky that one time to make it work; just shut off your computer when it goes to update. It'll keep the files and won't try to update after.

Of course, if you need an update to make a later expansion compatible with an older one, that'd cause a problem, but I didn't encounter any the last time I did this.

Did you use the very first key provided per expansion? That one works for sure.

So it seems I figured it out. I think there was something wrong with the update that I had downloaded for the base game. I re-downloaded it and it works fine now. However, I had also deleted all of the files out of my downloads folder at the suggestion of someone else so I'm not sure if that was the issue or if they were part of the same issue.

I think I used the last cd key and it did work okay.
