Followed installation guide but manual patch not working + more issues

Hi there,

I am having some major issues with the installation. It's so complicated to explain but I'll try my best to make it somewhat understandable! Basically, I downloaded the Sims 3 base game and expansion packs from G4TW and tried to follow your guide on how to install it. I installed the base game (didn't crack it) and then installed pets (also didn't crack) but also didn't install EA downloader because there was a manual update. I then downloaded the manual update but when I opened it it said that installed version cannot be found by setup and then terminated. So now I am so confused what to do...

Previously I had downloaded and installed the base game and many expansion packs and they were all working perfectly. I cracked each of them individually by copying the two files into the correct base game folder but then I installed Generations and I updated software like it (a message popped up) told me to to v1.63.5 and then cracked it in the same way. However, everytime I then went to open any of the expansions it would show errors or no disc found or just not respond and terminate.

Okay so I reinstalled the base game, cracked it and then reinstalled generations and cracked it as well. I tried opening the game and it said service initialization error so I downloaded the ultimate fix and IT WORKS!!!

My new question is, I downloaded and installed University Life after this and applied the fix but it said that no disc was inserted. I didn't expect this to work so does this mean that I need to install all my expansion packs first or is there a way to fix it if I download more on another date?

Hello,
Please do not use the Cracks included inside the torrents, they are out if date.
Instead, use the Ultimate Fix.

Does this mean I install everything I want, don't crack them and then apply only the cracks from the ultimate fix appropriately?
And for expansion packs released after Generations, there's only one crack so do I just apply that crack to the base game folder and that's it?

That's ok.
Yes, that's it. Bear in mind that you need some expansions installed for the Ultimate Fix to work, so just use the crack from the #Crack folder to the base game install folder!

However, my laptop tends to get very hot when I play sims and this results in the game not responding. I don't know if has anything to do with the error 12 that keeps popping up making me lose my progress! Sad

Any ideas?

Try Game Booster from IOBit.
Also, remember to save your game regularly so as not to lose any progress!

In the meantime do you know why my sims always stops responding and terminates when I go into create a sim or edit their clothing? I don't have any custom content but I have most of the expansion packs.

The game has been working beautifully (except for some error 12's and whatnot but that's no big deal) since but today I opened the launcher and updated the game to 1.66.2.024017 and now I am getting the no game disc error again....... Sad

What should I do?

HI,
Good! Now that you have successfully updated the game to the new patch, re-apply The updated Ultimate Fix and skip "Step 11". Follow through to step 12 & 13 and you should be good to go. hope this helps. Make sure you launch the game from the Base game folder where you apply the final #Crack. Once you apply the #Crack, inside the same folder look for the Sims 3 application named "TS3W.EXE double click and game will launch.

then copy the files from crack folder to exactly to electronic arts/thesims3/basegame/bin

I was looking around the forum earlier and saw a thread that said there was only a temporary fix for this new update to 1.66 and that an updated version of the ultimate fix was not yet released. So, I am confused as to what fix you are talking about and whether or not there is an updated one because I can't seem to find it on the forum!

I downloaded the fix but it is the exact same fix as the one I used for the 1.63 update so I don't know whether it will work or not? Unless it has already been updated?

THESE STEPS HELPED ME. I PROVIDED A LINK BELOW FOR THE UPDATE FIX AS OF 01/17/2014. I ALSO PROVIDED A LINK BELOW FOR THE UPDATE MANUAL PATCH 1.66. USE INTERNET EXPLORER TO DOWNLOAD PATCH. HOPE THIS HELPS.

1. I Downloaded and Apply Ultimate Fix first FROM HERE: https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t752-the-sims-3-ultimate-fix-should-fix-most-of-your-problems (BE SURE TO SKIP STEP 11 IN THE FIX GUIDE)

1a. PAUSE AT STEP 10 IN "ULTIMATE FIX GUIDE" "FOR NOW FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW".

2. I DELETED PREVIOUS MANUAL PATCHES THAT DIDN'T UPDATE PROPERLY.

3. I RE-DOWNLOADED MAUAL PATCH FROM HERE:

Speed is not reaslly much important if file is not downloading properly. With that being said, Chrome doesn't work for me it causes CRC Error when downloaded that is because its .RAR file! I used internet explorer it downloaded fine with accurate speed and works without CRC Error that is why I have suggested to others to try link above. Thank you.

However the other Manual Patch link provided on this Is a MEGA link which is a RAR file (SEE BELOW) and some people has been having issues with downloading from Chrome and So have I. Hi I am very confused (again) about whether or not the ultimate fix and manual update are for 1.67.2 of the game... I am too scared to apply it because admin posted yesterday to not update because the ultimate fix is not compatible yet...

Any advice? Should I just wait it out?
