The Sims 4 - Mac too ?

It looks like EA officily announce a Mac version.

Someone saw a date ? Will it be cider again ? Info Shocked

there is currently no confirmed date for the Mac Version sadly or any news for the mac version except it will be released

Note that this is the official Maxis/EA site on The Sims 4, but yes, it's almost certain that - at some point - a "Mac version" will be released too.

As for the technical implementation of this game on Mac OS, nobody can tell for sure yet besides EA, but I guess that, along with the current trend of most other major gaming studios, the focus will be on the Windows platform, hence the game will be "wrapped" in CIDER for the Mac audience. EA might think about why to bother with re-writing the game's source code for Mac OS, when CIDER is "enough". (lol)

But seriously: my impression is that the major gaming studios put this into perspective of "cost vs. benefit": how many Mac users are out there, and is it worth it (financially) to focus on them too ?

As of now, Mac users have been neglected, and whether much will change about this (anytime soon), remains to be seen...

I did see that too Carlos, but I stumbled upon some contradictions while surfing and SimsVIP, a reliable source as far as I know ( … might not be much :p ) says this from a FAQ according to EA :

Q: What platforms will the game be available on?

A: The Sims 4 will be available for PC and Mac.

I too, was still on the old : no, no mac, nononon, those are useless, no macs.

I mean, EA … Macs …. such a story !

The article you linked to is a bit "dated", but yes, I imagine having read something similar too, somewhere. In the end though, that question of whether "Mac or not Mac ?" doesn't seem too relevant, because - on the one hand - the main official page I linked to says otherwise, and given the history of The Sims franchise, it's practically certain that there will be a "Mac version" at some point.

I do hope they don't do it by themselves like before.

I remember when I saw the Maxis logo back I wondered if that meant that for Sims 4 Aspyr would be back too. Just hope they won't stop the work mid-way like with Sims 2 - we never go the last 2 expansions !
