Issue with Origin digital download base game and pirated expansion packs

Hello, I downloaded the sims 3 and late night through the humble ea bundle a while ago. Since then I decided to download seasons through games4theworld. I applied the manual update, then downloaded the ultimate fix, and copied the TSW.exe and the dll to J:\Origin Games\The Sims 3\Game\Bin. That is where I installed the sims. However, whenever I launch TSW.exe, it launches the origin application. if I try to launch the sims through there, it comes up with "There was an error starting your game, please see the error log". I have tried all the methods of bypassing origin but to no avvail. What did I do wrong? I've seen that this should be possible.

Maybe you should uninstall the base game too and download the base game & all the expansions you want from games4theworld?I am not sure if you can avoid the origin application if your base game is installed from there.

Yeah that's pretty much what I resorted to after making this post and everything is working great now.

Funny enough, I actually did the exact same thing and was in the exact same boat.  Admin, here from the forum, was nice enough to edit my registry so that I could by-pass the blasted Origin launcher but after a while, I got sick of it.  I just ended up torrenting and then installing G4TW's base-game and a few expansions.  Much easier!

Do you need help with anything else?  Glad the game is now working.
