No expansion packs will install

Hey,
I'm having a problem that was the same as someone else on here but I was told to make a new thread. The previous post didn't help me at all.
I'm trying to install several sims 3 expansion packs but whenever I tell it to autorun this same message comes up for every expansion pack:

I click on on "ok" and nothing happens, none will install, what can I do?

Just one question. Did you use WinRAR to extract the files from the expansion's .rar? If you use any other program, the files may not extract correctly. Please make sure that you are using WinRAR when extracting them.

Well, when you download a torrent with the EP from here, you will get a RAR file. This is a "package" of compressed files. For you to be able to use them, you need to extract them from the "package" (.rar) using a program called WinRAR. After that, they can be used normally.

I think I'm getting confused, I searched online for my problem and I found this forum where someone else had the same problem. Am I looking in the wrong place? I'm meaning I'm trying to install the expansion packs from the disc, not from a torrent download. I'm so stupid this is just for issues regarding torrent downloads from here isn't it?

Oh, I'm sorry. I assumed you downloaded the expansion packs from here. Yes, we also provide support for installation from a disk, but it's not common. I should have asked before.

So, when you insert the disk, the Autorun doesn't start automatically? And, have you tried running the Autorun as an Administrator?

It's ok

When I insert the disk the usual thing comes up asking whether I want to autorun or open the files. I click on autorun and that message comes up. If I find autorun or setup in the folders the message still comes up, even when running as administrator. I've also tried redeeming the product code in origin but when that's downloaded and I try to install it the same message comes up.

Have you tried to launch the program in compatibility mode?

Can you please check if Service Pack 1 is installed?
Go to Start > Computer > Properties and see whether it is listed there.

Ok.

Do you have any expansion already installed?
If not please uninstall your base game, restart your PC, re install and try again. For some people it seems to have fixed the issue.

Omg what is even wrong with this? If I go on my control panel to uninstall it the same message comes up, so it won't let me uninstall it. This is so frustrating Why.

Hello Gwyn,

I would suggest you forget - for the time being - about un-installing anything. Also, forget that disc you borrowed too. What I would like to see is whether you get that same error when you pirate the expansions from G4TW. So please, download some expansions here:

http://www.games4theworld.org/downloads.html

When you're done, do as SeoY said at the beginning: open the download with WinRAR, extract the contents of ONE expansion to ONE folder with WinRAR. For the next expansion .RAR, make another empty folder, extract the contents there, and so on.

See if you can install expansions that way; it's possible that something is wrong with the disc(s) you borrowed. Good luck, and keep us posted ! Smile

I'm not even sure, I tried it before but all I remember is it didn't work so I'm sure I uninstalled it, I tried installing it again but it just opened and crashed? Then when I try to open something with it it says "Application not found", I'm so confused
