Game crashes in CAS because of custom content Empty Game crashes in CAS because of custom content

Post by Guest Sat 08 Nov 2014, 18:10

Okay, so I have a problem again. I downloaded a bunch of custom content (i've made sure there's no sims 3 cc in my packages folder) and now whenever I try to make a new family, it allows me to make 1 person and when I want to make another person or just create a family with 1 sim, it crashes. I removed my packages folder and problem solved. Except that I want to keep all my CC, is there a way I can find out whis one/s making my game crash? Any ideas will be great, thanks.

Hi again! Smile

If you are sure now that the problem is one of the CC you have, then your best bet is to try and narrow down the one(s) crashing the game.

One thing you could try is the halving method, where you take one half of the CC and Mods you have and put it somewhere else (like the desktop, for example). Then, check if the game runs fine. If it does, then you interchange the halves and try again. With the one half that you find is causing problems, you do the same thing. Keep halving until you find which file(s) are the ones crashing the game.

If at some point neither of the halves cause the crash, then that possibly means two files in each of them are conflicting.

Hello,

For the future, if you want to avoid the procedire SeoY suggested (which is a lot of work especially if you have lots of .package files), then you should add CC to your game very slowly. So maybe not more than 5 items at once, and then test the game. Also, if you look here:

https://games4theworld.forumotion.com/t18175-how-to-install-custom-content-in-ts4-package-files-script-mods-custom-sims-lots

Then I made the suggestion there to put all NEW custom content in a separate folder (in my example called "Test"), so when you start the game and notice issues, you can simply take out all the stuff from that "Test"-folder, out again.

Good luck and keep us posted ! Smile
