Invisible Sims and Missing Text Empty Invisible Sims and Missing Text

When I load The Sims 3 everything seems to load fine with the exception of the occasional distorted music  Once the game has loaded to the "Select a town" screen.  I noticed that some of the selectable options, while present, have missing text.  Instead of a button that says "Log In" or "Buy Simoleans" instead they are just blank yellow bars that I can click on.  Also, my sims are invisible.  I can hear them and select their clothing but the are completely invisible, including the clothing.  The iconic  The Sims 3 plumbob isn't even visible above my sim's head.  Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

You probably didn't apply the (latest available) crack correctly. Have a look at this here:

First make sure you have at least one of the expansions from step #1 installed. And then you MUST do the steps from #2 to #4, correctly. This is essential, so take your time to read through that - thoroughly. Then start the game and see if anything improves.
