Sims 4 (GTW) won't run without Origin as of yesterday (fixed!) Empty Sims 4 (GTW) won't run without Origin as of yesterday (fixed!)

Post by Guest Wed 15 Apr 2015, 02:33

I have had the Sims 4 and the Get To Work expansion pack (both from GFTW) for a while now and have had no problems playing until now. Played for a bit yesterday, quit, then tried to play again an hour later and I got the "connect to origin" error message out of the blue. I am able to play the base game while connected to Origin but not GTW.
I've tried to re-download the base game, the fix, and the expansion, have allowed all of the folders through my firewall, uninstalled Origin, ran as administrator, but still I am getting this error.
I don't know what could have caused it or how to fix it. Any help?
Thanks in advance!

****Update: did some digging through my Windows 8 pc and found Web Companion had been installed right before my game quit working. I just uninstalled it and now my game works perfectly. Hope this can help someone who is having the same problem!****
