Origin messed up my game

I have downloaded the sims 4, Outdoor Retreat and Get To Work EP. I have played it a couple of days now, but today Origin decided to update it self.
When I started the game after the update, I found that my sim (who was working at the police station in GTW), suddenly was sitting unemployed on the couch watching TV.
Do I have to download GTW again, or is it anything else I can do?

Hello and welcome to the forum,
I assume you downlaoded TS4 from Games4TheWorld ? If so, that game doesn't require Origin at all to run (and you are actually supposed to turn Origin completely off, before playing it !).
Hence I don't see why an Origin update should ruin your game.
Try navigating to My Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 4 and delete the file localthumbcache.package. Run the game again and see if you notice any improvements. Good luck !
