Windows 7 and 8 Problems [SOLVED] Empty Windows 7 and 8 Problems [SOLVED]

Post by Guest Sun 03 May 2015, 17:15

Hey, I downloaded and made a copy of the windows 8.1 as well as the windows 7.
I do use Power ISO, and it has served me well , till now, lol.
When I load the dvd(either OS) and try to have it boot from the disc, it does not.
So I checked the discs with Power ISO and it says 'non bootable' image???
Now, I am surely confused cause it (Power ISO) has never done that before with any other files, not writing as an ISO image file to a disc? So don't know what went wrong, but I did retry burning to 2 new dvd's , windows 7 as well as the windows 8.1, was careful and made sure supposedly it was burning as an ISO image file. But same thing happened!
After retrieving the cat from the tree it ended up in, (poor kitty is scared, lol), I am at a loss as to what to do??
I did get both downloads from GFTW so not the issue.
Thanks in advance :-)

Hello there. I don't use PowerISO in creating bootable disks, but I use Rufus (rufus.akeo.ie). It's light and it allows the creation of bootable flash drives. Use it and if you encounter any problems, post back here.  Laughing

Hi there,

I used Ashampoo Studio myself (yes, also available on our website! Very Happy).
The mistake most people make is indeed that the burn the disc as a data disc, instead of actually making it a bootable disc, using an option called something like "Create disc from image".

What do you see when you put the DVD in a computer on which Windows is running? (From an active Windows environment) What files do you see on the disc?

Thanks for the responses. The disc was  readable all along. I could see all the data on the disc. Anyways, I finally did get it to work but not as a 'bootable' disc. I opened the key or activation file and it started working. It walked through the whole set up process and installed. I haven't be able to put that pc online yet, but I think it'll be fine once I do for the final Windows activation process.

Hi again,

What I meant was (like you already described now), do you see the .ISO file itself burned on the disc, or actually the files that were in the .ISO files. If you see the .ISO file itself, then it means that it was burned as a data disc.

Not sure what you did exactly to make it work. I assumed you were doing a fresh installation? In that case you really need to boot from the disc. Or you could load the .ISO on a USB stick using special software. That way you can install from the USB stick. That's an easy way to do it too.

We'll keep this topic open for you, please let us know the result! Very Happy
