GTW Retail employees

Am I the only one who is having trouble keeping my employees doing their job? I can't even berate them for slacking because the game does not recognize them to be slacking even if I assign them to Ring Up Customers--they don't. Do I have to purchase the reward of Mega Manager? I'm paying them so much for not doing their job.

I know the problem! I just make family buisnesses, so I can control the "employees" myself.

Right? I just fired both my employees since I found out I can handle the workload with my 2 main sims albeit a little stressful when items are on clearance. I'd have to earn more perk points, I guess.
