"Unable to start" help? [SOLVED]
Hi! So, I'm getting the same Origin error a lot of people are getting, and helping someone can help me figure this out! It's not solved by moving The Sims 4 folder. Maybe worth mentioning, I'm running Windows Vista 32-bit and my Program Files are just named Program Files, no x86 at the end. I don't have Origin installed at all, and I don't have any antivirus programs either.
For this latest try, I have, in this order:
Any help at all would be so much appreciated, I'm at my wit's end with this. :p I can answer questions/post screenshots as needed. Thank you!
EDIT: Finally! To anyone else having trouble, I had to actually install Origin and leave it running in the background. Not logged in or anything, just running. Not sure if it will matter, but this was after doing a clean install of the base game and latest update directly from Reloaded.
For this latest try, I have, in this order:
- Completely disabled Windows Firewall and Defender (disabled the services) and even DEP.
- Uninstalled everything using Revo, then ran CCleaner and cleaned the registry. Rebooted. Redownloaded and reinstalled everything from G4TW. I couldn't get the base game to run by itself, I had to also download and install G4TW's Get to Work. Game was working at this point.
- Went in-game and turned off all of the online connectivity features in the settings.
- Moved The Sims 4 folder straight to the desktop, deleted Electronic Arts folder from Program Files.
- Followed all of the instructions for applying the Ultimate Fix, but still get this when trying to launch it: "Unable to start: Origin is currently not running. Please make sure that Origin is running before attempting to play The Sims 4 [d3382ced]"
Any help at all would be so much appreciated, I'm at my wit's end with this. :p I can answer questions/post screenshots as needed. Thank you!

Hello,
Just keep in mind that this will remove all your DLC from the game, leaving you only with base game content of TS4 to play. The reason you are getting the error is because the crack of TS4 is very "allergic" to anything having to do with anti-virus systems or firewalls. Even if you say you configured everything, there may be some "bloatware" on your computer that you may not be aware of (like, downsized or trial-version anti-virus systems), and which block the crack of TS4.
At that point, there are 2 options: you either find out what is blocking the crack, or the more radical solution would be to do a fresh Windows install. I'm sorry that there is no easier way to solve this problem.

Re: "Unable to start" help? [SOLVED]
I'm using the latest update from Reloaded with all DLCs included, and the DLC content is thankfully working fine! I've scoured my PC for any inkling of an antivirus, Windows or otherwise, and am pretty confident there was nothing interfering? I only got it to boot after installing Origin. Like, I did another fresh install, no dice - then immediately tried installing Origin and the game started right up my next try.
Weirdly enough, if I started Origin before attempting to launch the game, I still got the error message. I had to just open the game and let Origin boot with it. But after launch I'm even able to exit out of Origin with no issues.
Oh and another thing I just thought of, after I installed Origin it created a new "The Sims" shortcut in my start menu, and that's how I had to launch the game. My desktop shortcut wouldn't work, so I made a new shortcut from the one in the start menu. Which makes no sense because I'm 99% sure they linked to the same place but yep.
